Is Jaipur safe for solo female travelers?

Jaipur, also known as the Pink City of India, is generally safe for solo female travelers. Like many travel destinations, it has instances of petty crime like theft or pickpocketing, but violent crime is relatively less common. The locals are usually respectful and accommodating towards tourists. However, higher levels of caution should be exercised during late night travels, or while traveling in less crowded areas. Pre-arranged transportation and licensed guides can further enhance the safety factor. Also, it is recommended to respect the local customs and dress modestly. Always keep important personal belongings in a secured manner and maintain awareness of your surroundings.

How safe is Jaipur for solo female travelers?

Solo travel

I didn't really like Jaipur. It seemed to me a very large and crowded city. I was really happy that I only spent 2 days there. It was definitely more than enough.

It’s moderately safe for women, don’t talk to random men mainly. And avoid walking by yourself late at night. Again stay away from men in general and you’d be okay. I would say it somewhere between Delhi (least safe) and Mumbai which is pretty safe.

We had barely been there for 10 min when a man on a scooter tried to snatch my friend’s phone as we were crossing at a pedestrian crossing, and later that same evening some men threw a huge firecracker at my leg. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it for women on their own, but maybe it’s better if you’re with men..

About me

Hey there! I'm someone who came to Jaipur, fell in love with its charm, and never left. After finishing my post-grad here, I decided to stay now working full-time and soaking in the everyday magic this city offers. From spontaneous long drives to late-night golgappa runs at Kumbhamarg, I’ve explored Jaipur like a local and loved every bit of it. live in a cozy place that I’m happy to share with fellow travelers. If you're visiting, you're more than welcome to stay no fuss, no strict house rules (just no smoking, please). I'm also super passionate about cooking, so expect some crazy-good homemade Indian dishes while you're here. Whether you’re in town for a quick stop or a longer stay, I’ll make sure you feel right at home. Jaipur has a lot to offer and I’d love to help you experience it through the eyes of someone who truly lives it.
