Is Imphal safe for solo female travelers?

Imphal, being the capital of Manipur, is fairly safe for solo female travelers. The locals are generally friendly and helpful. However, keep in mind that Northeast India can sometimes be politically unstable which may lead to unexpected and sudden strikes or shutdowns. As in any other place, it’s always a good idea to avoid venturing out late at night especially in isolated areas, and maintain general precautions.
