Is Tartu worth visiting?

Solo travel

Very safe and pleasant city, it’s clean and the old part of town is very pretty as well as some neigbourhoods. Loved the national museum and the many cute cafes.

I have and know a lot of people who have walked home in the dark since they were 6 or 7 y.o. There may be a few areas to avoid during night but generally Tartu is safe and quiet. The city buses have caleras in there and feel very safe to, there is are great bus connection. Police is trustable and there are even some city parts where people don’t mind leaving their front door unlocked at all times
