Is Tartu safe for women?
Very safe little town. Full of university students from end of august until late spring who are enjoying nightlife and beautiful Tartu vibe. Summers are beautiful and it's very nice to relax near the river where bars are open as well. Very calm and beautiful city where you can easily enjoy just being with yourself.
Posted: August 18, 2024Tartu is a very safe and lovely place. Especially during the winter I felt really safe walking home alone during the night. In the summer it is also very safe and mostly very light during the night. I've never felt worried or afraid.

Tartu is a student city, which makes it very friendly and safe. I would say that Estonia in general, is very safe place to travel and live in. I have never had any bad or unsafe experience in Tartu, during the night all the students are outside and city is very alive, girls have each others back and I've never even heard a story of somebody being raped or in danger.
Posted: June 6, 2024I haven't experienced any dangerous or even unpleasant situations. I think it is very safe, I have been alone after dark many many times and haven't been bothered by anyone. Highly recommend, also a lot of English speakers.

Solo travel
Very safe and pleasant city, it’s clean and the old part of town is very pretty as well as some neigbourhoods. Loved the national museum and the many cute cafes.
