Depends on the area! The San Jose center is very safe , other areas depend. My home in general is ok. Still is latam so it is important to be careful, it doesn't matter the area. We were the safest country in LATAM, however, this reality changed over the time
Posted: May 13, 2025I feel very comfortable in San Jose overall. Like in every city in the world there are places/zones that are more dangerous and you should always talk with the locals to learn about those and avoid them. I’ve never had any problems in a touristy location. I did get mugged walking alone at night but it was just that one time, so maybe don’t.

Hi! My name is Amanda 🌷 i’m 25, i’m from Costa Rica but I lived the past 6 years in France (currently back in CR for some time). I love to travel. I would love to meet new people around the world and hang out together 🤍 I love to plan my travels really well (where to eat and what to do each day) but sometimes I don’t stick to it haha I love matcha, good food, thrifting, crocheting, cinema and just discovering the city! (i can offer a tattoo in exchange for a place to stay🤍)

Hello! My name is Dalí, and I’m from Costa Rica—a true paradise on Earth. I’m a chemist, and I love talking about science! I’ve traveled a lot and really enjoy exploring different cultures. Dancing and visiting museums are two of my favorite things. I love meeting people from diverse backgrounds, languages, and countries, and I’m always eager to learn something new about their homelands. I had the amazing opportunity to complete my master’s degree in Europe and have lived in six different countries. Now, I’m thrilled to pursue my PhD in Estonia! 💓
