Is Tonghua safe for solo female travelers?

Tonghua generally offers a secure environment for solo female travelers. Like many places in China, Tonghua's overall crime rate is relatively low. Most inhabitants are very friendly and welcoming to tourists. Public transportation is deemed safe, even late at night and local hotels/loggings maintain decent security standards. However, it is always advisable to keep an eye on personal belongings, especially in crowded places. As with travel anywhere, common safety precautions like avoiding isolated areas late at night and having the address and name of your accommodation written in the local language should be observed.
