Is Jingmen safe for solo female travelers?

Jingmen, in Hubei Province, China is generally safe for solo female travelers. Local law enforcement is reliable and the crime rates are relatively low. Most areas are well-lit and safe to walk at night. However, like anywhere, you should always stay alert, especially in crowded places to avoid being a victim of minor crimes like pickpocketing or purse-snatching. Knowledge of basic Mandarin may be helpful, as English is not widely spoken.
