Maui is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend it as a solo traveller as I felt very safe and Hawaiians are very nice people. The must do in Maui are the Haleakala volcano for sunset or sunrise! You go by car all the way to the very top above the clouds and see the sun setting or rising- depending at what time you go. Be mindful to bring warm clothes and blankets as it gets very cold up there! The other must do activity is the Road to Hana! A beautiful drive along the coast with many huge waterfalls, hikes and banana bread around🙌🏼

Maui is an incredible island with endless opportunities to explore! I feels very safe just ensure you are being respectful to the locals, especially on the road to hana. There are endless views to admire including waterfalls, endless hills of palm trees, tons of wild chickens, black sand beaches, ect. Be sure to try some seafood while youre there, fish tacos were my favourite:) Hawaii is a state in the USA so it is fairly expensive so make sure you budget properly, even hostels are around $50 a night! We opted for a truck with a camper in the back that we found on airbnb! With 3 ppl it was about $50 per day. You definitely need a car if you’re wanting to explore the island so this was definitely the best option for us:)

Definitely need to do a whale watch! Love Kiehi as my favorite town to stay in, especially The Hale Pau Hana Resort. A very walkable town but a car is helpful to get outside the beach area. This is my happy place!

Paia is located just before the start of the road to Hana. Visit this place on your way back to the hotel. At the beginning of the road to Hana, there is a beach where you can usually see many turtles. Make sure you are respectful and keep your distance. If you want to see turtles in the ocean, the black rock area in front of the Sheraton at the northern end of the hotels is always a great place where you are most likely to see sea turtles. I really enjoyed Haleakala at sunrise - you need to book it in advance. If you do, make sure you bring warm clothes.
