Located on the east coast of the United States, North Carolina is a state steeped in rich history and remarkable natural beauty. Known for its diverse geography, the Tar Heel State boasts an impressive array of landscapes, from the stunning Appalachian Mountains to the west, the rolling Piedmont in the central region, and the sandy beaches and barrier islands of the Outer Banks to the east. It's widely recognized for its contributions to flight history, with the Wright Brothers taking their first flight in Kitty Hawk. Besides its historical significance, North Carolina is also a hub for arts and culture, great southern cuisine, including its famous BBQ, and a vast array of outdoor activities such as hiking, surfing, and hang gliding. Whether exploring the vibrant city life in Charlotte or Raleigh, embarking on a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, or indulging in fresh seafood on the coast, North Carolina truly has something for every traveler to explore and enjoy.

I lived in North Carolina for a year, in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the Appalachians. 
The forests and valleys are absolutely stunning!
I recommend hiking around waterfalls, and walking near little creeks.
