Hull was a good experience, somewhat different from where I usually live. The public transportation is decent but do not expect to use a metro card that you are used to using in say London or Dublin. Safety is excellent. I had to wait at the bus station at night for a bus, after a day trip to Manchester. No hassles at all. Only issue was is that I had to wait for around an hour for the bus to come.
