Located along the Seto Inland Sea in western Honshu, Japan, Onomichi is a charming city known for its picturesque, old-world atmosphere. It's also widely recognized for the Temple Walk, a route that connects more than 25 beautifully preserved temples, providing a serene and spiritual experience for visitors. Along with its rich history and cultural importance, the city is also known as the starting point of the famous Shimanami Kaido, a scenic 60-kilometer bike route across six islands in the Seto Inland Sea making it a must-visit destination for cyclists as well.

Onomichi

I highly recommend doing the shimanami kaido cycling route from Onomichi to Imabari, I felt safe and it was easily the best travel experience so far. Anyone can do the route even if you don’t want to cycle and just want to take the train instead. The surrounding towns are very inexpensive and there’s a lot to do and see. The best view of the cherry blossoms I had was here, it wasn’t crowded at all and it felt very local.
