Is Jakarta worth visiting?

Solo travel

Jakarta was my first destination outside of Europe that I traveled solo to. I was a bit scared and overwhelmed at first. But I didn’t feel unsafe or uncomfortable any time, even while walking alone in the streets. People were amazing, welcoming and really helpful. It’s definitely not a place for everyone, the “sights” are nothing special but the culture and atmosphere is there. I stayed in a hostel called The Packers Lodge and I can only recommend it. Great for meeting people, welcoming, clean with a kitchen.

Solo travel

Alot of people told me there isnt anything in Jakarta but I still went ahead with a solo trip. The people in Jakarta are very friendly and helpful. I stayed in All Season Thamrin Hotel which is 10 mins walk to the malls . Thamrin City was my favourite as I could purchase cloths at wholesale price. I went to Jakarta old town and I love the peaceful surroundings. Jakarta has MRT but I didnt commute. Most of the time I used GoJek their private hirer and its really affordable. Their food is amazing dont forget to try their Jamu drink if you are visiting.
