Indonesia
When I traveled to Ubud for the first time back in 2021 I had never been to Indonesia before - nor had I been to Asia. And it was quite honestly the easiest, friendliest place I could have landed. It’s so easy to find safe, kind, friendly places to stay that are affordable. The food is brilliant - for all diets too (I don’t eat gluten, and I’m primarily plant based), and there are loads of events for meeting people. It’s easy to get around by either renting a motorbike or getting a Gojek to take you around. Lots of beautiful cultural sites to visit - and the Balinese culture is one of the richest and most specific in the world. I loved it so much I ended up making it home for three years! :)
