Is Bergen safe for women?

I find Bergen to be very safe. As a 20-year-old woman, I’ve often walked home alone at night in the city center and felt comfortable. Bergen is full of students, and the student life makes the city lively, especially on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Norwegians can be a bit reserved, but I’ve never experienced theft or anything similar here. Of course, it’s always smart to keep an eye on your belongings, but overall I feel very safe and comfortable living in Bergen.
