Portree is a small town on the Isle of Skye. There’s few locals and many tourists. Scottish people are polite and willing to help. You can go around using the bus. You’ll meet lots of travelers. I’ve been recommended not to go to the local pubs though

Portree is a small, rural town. People are very friendly and locals, bus drivers etc will always be helpful if you are lost or need advice. Public transport is limited so plan ahead, hitch hiking is common and I've always felt safe doing so although I choose smaller cars rather than vans or work vehicles. Come prepared for cold, wet and windy weather at all times of year - the weather is a greater threat than the people here. Be careful if you are driving, go slow and let locals pass you, familiarise yourself with the rules for driving on single track roads. Weekend nights can include some heavy drinking but bad behaviour is very rare. I've always felt very safe, even walking home in the pitch dark!

I'm an easy going person with a love for adventure and new perspectives, good food, music and hiking. I've recently fallen in love with solo and flight-free travel!
