Is Kettering safe for women?

The town centre at night attracts crowds of youths around the fast food areas. They’re mostly just noisy and the boys can get vulgar but it can be intimidating if you’re alone. I’ve been harassed a few times around there but I ignored them and they lost interest. Don’t engage is the best defence I think.
