Is Cheltenham safe for solo female travelers?

Cheltenham generally holds a reputation for being quite safe for solo female travelers. The crime rate is relatively low compared to other areas in the UK, and locals are typically friendly and helpful to visitors. Public transport is reliable and abundant, making navigation easy. However, like any other location, it is still advised to take standard travel precautions like avoiding less busy areas late at night and not leaving drinks unattended.

As with anywhere, it’s best to use some common sense and have your wits about you after dark but I feel very safe in Cheltenham. And it’s a lovely place, hence why I chose to live here! Highly recommend as a destination to visit in England 😊

Cheltenham is safe. I’ve never had an issue besides when people have been drinking too much, just stay viligant if a drink approaches you but Cheltenham is well lit at night. I’ve lived here for so long I forget to even worry about if my phone would get taken. People are really nice. Avoid teenagers around McDonald’s however, my only pet peeve is how annoying and rude they can be. That’s it 😆

A small city in the UK -I feel safe walking around at night. I’ve lived here for 2 years and never had any issues as a female. Town centre can be rowdy during race week but that’s expected!! Would recommend visiting for races.
