The center of iasi is very safe, for years I’ve never heard big story like SA or grape, I’m living here for most of the year for medical study, don’t go out a lot so my experience may be biased but I don’t feel unsafe when I go out even in night ( sometimes I go out alone at 02-05AM to bought some snakes, 15 minute by walk and use street with no light) and didn’t heard any assaulted from girls in my school. The only things I heard (was one time, a year ago) was a guy following girl to their way home but it seems he was mentally ill and didn’t touch these girls. So like anywhere be careful of course. But compared to france (where I lived for most of my time, city like lyon) it’s safer .
Posted: June 13, 2025To be honest I can't say much because I don't really have the time to go out because of uni, but at least during the day I hardly ever had a bad experience directed at me. If we're talking about some drunk or rude(loud, angry) people in the middle of the city or during public transport, then maybe this is like a case once every, idk, 7-10 days? But they don't interact with you so if you don't mind them you're good to go. Also, if you're talking in another language other than English or Romanian, people may look a bit odd at you and some may start a convo to know where you're from, but otherwise I'd say it's a pretty safe location

If ture a woman is a bit tricky but avoid certain parts and don’t go out very late and you will be completely fine The police is not very helpful, but also the crime rate is really low and we don’t have guns almost at all

Overall, it’s safe, but like in any city, it’s good to stay aware of your surroundings—especially in busy or touristy areas where petty theft can happen. Traveling between the cities is safe, but the English language knowledge of the local population is limited, so be ready to use some Romanian on the way.
Posted: April 12, 2025Over all safe during the day, public transport can be a bit tricky as it gets quite busy/full at certain hours and pickpocketing is not that uncommon around here. Cat calling/verbal harassing can also occur but as you can expect it usually comes from men either sober or intoxicated, it's best to ignore because often times they're not alone (only if its something mild of course). There have been incidents of people being reported as public threats (harassing/threatening girls and women), but the police would quickly get involved, in the meantime people would take pictures of the culprits, makes posts about it so the news would spread quickly and women knew who to avoid. Again, over all safe, best to avoid secluded place and really busy public transportation.

It's a beautiful city, I haven't encountered any unpleasant events even though I've been living there for 9 years, people are quite friendly but there are also drunk street people. It's a city where the police are extra cautious.
