It's pretty safe. But like in another large city there in some parts of town that are not safe. You can safely use public transport. Sometimes drunk person will tell you something to you, but you just ignore it. There a lots of good people who are willing to help with everything. They even will walk with you if you can't find a place where you're going to. People are very friendly.

When i was working night shifts. It was pretty chill to go at 1:00A.M home by walk. There werent many ppl, but just stick to the streets that have cameras and lights. I had a couple of times when old dudes called me dumb names, just bcs i was going to the party tho. But overall i would say its pretty safe?

I have been living here for 5 years and I have never had any negative experiences. I believe it is quite safe. The only thing that comes to my mind would be Friday and Saturday nights in the city center when there can be a lot of drunk people who could say something unpleasant.
Posted: August 8, 2024It's pretty safe, even at night. I wouldn't recommend going alone at night, but the worse that happened to me was someone honking while I was crossing the road. Some guys could stop you to ask for an instagram handle or number, but honestly, that's pretty rare, only at crowded areas at night.

Novi Sad is the second biggest city in Serbia. If you are coming to Serbia, I would highly recommend a day trip from Belgrade (capital) to Novi Sad! The city is small and beautiful, with rich history and culture, beautiful old town architecture, a river and a fortress. And most importantly, the city is so safe! Even during the night, I have never experienced something bad or felt scared. The streets are full of people all the time, especially on the weekends. Night life is really rich and lively and you can see a lot of people even in 3am. Only thing I would pay attention to is your bag in the public bus or around main bus station, I have heard there are some people stealing wallets, but I have never experienced such thing.
Posted: May 26, 2024Novi Sad is a great place to visit, both for evening walks along the Danube River and for relaxing on the sandy beach during the day. The locals are also very nice, and many people speak English very well.
