Nis is a city where you can leave your phone in your pocket and not worry about being pickpocketed. You should be careful late at night, especially on weekends since there is a chance that there will be drunk people roaming the street, especially around the waterfront. It is generally safe, but you should always be aware of your surroundings.
Posted: July 29, 2025I feel like Niš is an overall safe city if you know where you're going and avoid darker parts of the city in the night. Stay away from drunk people or men on gas stations and you'll be fine. Everyone else is pretty much okay.
Posted: July 29, 2025Niš is great, I'm too lazy to write in English because you all have translators, and I'm writing this just to fill out the profile 😂 A student city with hospitable people, excellent food, and a great nightlife, for those who like it, go for it.

Its a safe place, but i overthink. A lot of things happend in past. However i think you cd walk around almost 99% sure you won't get hurt. I walk alone at night and i feel totally safe. So does my other female friends anf family.
Posted: April 22, 2025I would say it is pretty safe. In my personal opinion it is safe, u do not remember when I had felt unsafe. Yes, there has been a few incidents over the years but not as much as in some other countries. Things like that are rare here
Posted: January 16, 2025Nis is wonderful. It's safe and interesting (for such a small town), many people speak English, and almost every bar and pub has live music in the evenings. I recommend visiting the Stambolijski restaurant - it's cheap, and the food and service are phenomenal.
