generally safe. there are criminals (as almost everywhere) but they mind their owns businesses. it is possible that you will be cat called if you walk past construction site, but people are overall very hostile, welcoming and nice
Posted: April 17, 2025If you are constantly aware of your surroundings and act normally you won’t have any problems. Overall its a pretty safe city, but as anywhere you should be careful when you run into someone clearly drunk or someone who is looking for a reason for a fight, to stay away. Other than there shouldn’t be any concerns

As a young woman in her 20s, I was alone in Belgrade during my trip for 5 days. I usually went outside at night, and there were many other women. There was no problem with walking at night. However, be careful with your things being stolen. I had a backpack and my wallet inside of that got stolen at Trg Slavija.
Posted: March 30, 2025I’ve been living in Belgrade for past 8 years! Overall it is a safe city, although I’ve had some weird experiences after dark - being shouted at, followed by a man, honked from the car etc.. It happened only a few times in all that time so I don’t think city is unsafe

I think Belgrad is a safe place for women. But maybe on Friday and Saturday I am a bit afraid of drunk people. Generally people are nice and helpful to each other. I especially love Serbian women. I barely see rude behavior
Posted: January 31, 2025Very safe place except during soccer games and events. Almost none harassment on the streets. Polite and friendly people eager to help you find anything you need in our town. Most of the citizens speak English.
Posted: January 26, 2025I, personally, as a citizen of this town, haven't experienced many bad situations. There is crime, but thankfully, I haven't been affected by it. People do tend to engage in verbal disputes frequently, so keep in mind that we are feisty, and while it could escalate, it doesn't happen very often. Regarding crime, I would mostly worry about my possessions being stolen, but that has never happened to me. You should primarily watch your belongings in larger crowds. In the city center, there are many homeless people, and sometimes they do yell out some gibberish, but they are mostly harmless. Most of the time, we are a very welcoming country with warm and friendly people, but believe me, there are exceptions. Also, I'm speaking as a resident of the town, so it might be much different for me. A lot of people I meet who come here for vacation and exploration tell me they had a nice time. Hopefully, you do as well!
Posted: January 20, 2025I would say it’s pretty safe, I lived here all my life and despite media making it look so bad sometimes, I consider it to be safe. I walked the streets of Belgrade in the middle of the day and also in the middle of the night and never experienced any problems.

I think its usually safe just be careful of your surroundings. I never experienced anything like harassment even when walking late at night. There might be some schizophrenic people but rarely happens.
Posted: January 9, 2025As a young girl living alone in Belgrade, I can confirm it’s very safe. I’ve been in Belgrade for four years and have only experienced being catcalled a couple of times. People in general are not paying much attention to each other, but are very friendly if being approached:) And other cities are even safer.

I felt safe walking even at night as a woman. There were many young women who were around my age, on a walk with their friends, pets etc at night and at parks. The cuisine is usually a mix of Ottoman and Italian, not very diverse as a Turkish person. The people were usually kind! My wallet got stolen at Trg Slavija Mc Donald’s tho, I don’t recommend wearing backpacks. The city is small, walkable distance.

I can't recommend Belgrade enough! While to some Europeans, the city might feel shabby due to it's poor maintenance (corruption is bad here), yet, it was the safest city I ever visited. It has a lot to offer in terms of sightseeing and gastronomical tourism. Also, the prices are insanely low and perfect for budget travellers 😇

Hi, I’m Polina! I'm a Computer Science student from Russia, living in Belgrade with my husband. ✨ I love aesthetics like goblincore, dark fantasy, castlecore, whimsical gothic, cottagecore, spacecore, and fairycore. I'm empathetic and enjoy listening. I find it hard to socialize a lot since I'm an introvert. But I'd love to meet for coffee and explore unique spots in Belgrade.

I have to apologize to everyone I haven't responded to, I logged out of my account and it took me forever to get it back. I'm so sorry for missed opportunities to meet up. Hi there! I am a working student from Serbia that is looking for like minded travel friends. My most basic interest is taking pictures for Instagram of course, and I hope to find someone who also finds it fun while we travel. I like to do a lot of sightseeing, and get to know history, language, food and culture of the places I visit. On a tighter budget, and very thrifty, hope you're ok with that. Love nature and animals, music, dancing, and learning launguages. Major swiftie! Also if you're an expat, I am looking for a roommate. In the meantime, since I have a spare room, I'd love to have you as a guest for a few days.
