I feel like Lisbon is a city that’s overall safe. We should always watch out for our bags/ phone, cause there are surely a lot of pickpockets. Portuguese people are extremely friendly and they will welcome you very well - usually with no second intentions!! As a woman, I feel safer here than in my home country ( Brazil ) although when people learn that I’m not Portuguese I feel a switch on their in their intentions/ actions. However, this is definitely better here than in the rest of Europe.

Lisbon feels safe with other people, but as white young woman with blie eyes, you get a lot of comments walking alone. But if you ignore the men with confidence you will be fine. Feel confident in yourself men are afraid of you. Keep an eye on your things and you will not get robbed
Posted: August 31, 2025Lisbon is a safe city overall. You can enjoy the night without problems, but is always necessary to pay attention to pickpockets (they are not Portuguese, they travel here from other countries). You can party with no problems.

Very safe, but only been here for a short time. My room mates who have lived here for several years have said that it is very safe, and they have had no issues walking alone at night, but it’s always better to be safe and walk with someone if you can.
Posted: July 13, 2025I think the center is super safe! I use public transportation day and night and nothing has ever happened. I walk alone everywhere. At night, maybe not in some specific areas like anjos and intendente. Also don't go at night to suburban areas far from the center like Reboleira and Amadora, but that's a long way from the city itself. I usually just enjoy night outs with friends and if it's too crowded maybe just mind your things not to be the target of pickpockets, but that's just a recommendation - I've never been robbed!, and I go out partying at night a lot.

I didn’t really feel safe walking around alone outside at night, because some man were catcalling really insistently and I‘ve been molested in the hostel by a drunk guy as well. I‘m living in Barcelona where you get catcalled a lot but I‘ve never felt it that persistent and creepy like in Lisbon. During the day there is no problem and the architecture and ambience in the city is really nice! I really love the graffitis and the alternative touch that you experience there, especially in Portugal
