Lisbon is a safe city overall. You can enjoy the night without problems, but is always necessary to pay attention to pickpockets (they are not Portuguese, they travel here from other countries). You can party with no problems.

Very safe, but only been here for a short time. My room mates who have lived here for several years have said that it is very safe, and they have had no issues walking alone at night, but it’s always better to be safe and walk with someone if you can.
Posted: July 13, 2025I think the center is super safe! I use public transportation day and night and nothing has ever happened. I walk alone everywhere. At night, maybe not in some specific areas like anjos and intendente. Also don't go at night to suburban areas far from the center like Reboleira and Amadora, but that's a long way from the city itself. I usually just enjoy night outs with friends and if it's too crowded maybe just mind your things not to be the target of pickpockets, but that's just a recommendation - I've never been robbed!, and I go out partying at night a lot.

Lisbon is very safe, but the amount of tourists there make it feel like you might be targeted. On the flip side, because there are always so many people, it generally feels quite secure. I wouldn’t wear lots of jewelry or headphones at night, walking alone, but other than that, you should be fine.

Lisbon? Oh, it’s like the cozy sweater of European capitals—warm, welcoming, and pretty darn safe. Strolling through its pastel-colored streets feels more like wandering through a postcard than a crime scene. Sure, keep an eye on your stuff (as applicable to anywhere in the world). Overall, Lisbon’s the kind of place where your biggest danger is falling in love with a custard tart—or five.
