Bohol is fairly safe. You can go anywhere with a peace of mind. Although it’s rural, there are places that are relatively lively at night. I would say scams and overcharging visitors are the main concern. It’s a worry that there’s many cases where visitors get ripped off. So just watch out for them. Locals are nice and friendly.

Metro Manila I would say is generally safe, but crime rates depend a lot on location. BGC and Makati CBD are very safe while I wouldn’t walk alone at night in places like Tondo, Quiapo, etc. In any case, stick to ares that don’t seem sketchy and always trust your gut.

Makati is such a big city that it can be hard to say exactly how safe one can be. There are so many factors involved as well as one’s baseline. I’ve always lived in cities and I think that Makati is fairly easy to navigate. I wouldn’t be brandishing around expensive devices if I was walking on the street but I think it’s possible to stop and use my phone when I need to. I would avoid deserted streets or places without streetlights but on the whole, I find that local police are pretty helpful and locals would offer help as well if I need any.

Pasig City is a less touristy place so if you stay long term and want to feel more local, living here is more ideal. Basic necessities are within reach including supermarkets, hospitals and malls. Rent and utilities are cheaper, too.
Posted: August 16, 2024It's important to note that my area is in the business district so it's fairly safe here. To travelers planning to go here, stay in Makati Central Business District or Ayala. Anywhere outside could be quite risky.
Posted: August 3, 2024Relatively safe with Barangay officials roaming the streets day and night. No murders, thefts, kidnapping, rapes. People are friendly. Government officials are approachable. Safe to travel at night.
Posted: August 2, 2024Hi. Ive been living here for almost a year now since left Manila, and this is the most peaceful place Ive been in. The people are nice, even the ebike drivers that brings me to the bus stop from home would always remind me to take care and not bring huge amount of money with me. I once walked approx 3km late at night to home and i was safe and never got any harrasment or sort
Posted: August 2, 2024Manila is not really the friendliest place for solo female travel, unless you stay within the confines of expat areas like BGC and Makati. You always have to be vigilant even in malls. Public transportation is hard and taking a Grab (ride hailing app) can be quite expensive.
Posted: July 22, 2024City is pretty much safe during daylight but for night time, though I haven’t experience harm but still I have heard some few crimes in the City so just to be safe, don’t go out if it’s already dark and few people in the streets.

Travelled solo for my birthday, felt safe. I have met some locals and they were very friendly. Partying at night was good, everyone was respectful. There were policemen every station. There were affordable food options, and the hotel staff were also nice.

Hello everyone! I’m Gayle, 23. I am graduating from uni in June (yay) so I plan to just travel for a while after that. I’ve already been doing some traveling since January and have been to Thailand, Japan and just got back from Bali last week. I’m already set to backpack across SEA on October starting in Vietnam and just see where the journey leads me! Hoping to meet some friends along the way :)
