Is Makati safe for solo female travelers?

It is safe being in Makati, and I can say this especially because I work midtime (4 in the afternoon till midnight) but I am not sure at times because I overthink too much. I still suggest being prepared to be safe.

Being a business district, the people here are busy with work and commute. A lot of foreigners live here and hang around the malls. A lot of foreign travellers stay in the party areas (Poblacion). Walking around is easier and safer than most other places in Manila given that there are proper sidewalks. I would still practice caution when walking at night, so best to takea cab.

Makati is such a big city that it can be hard to say exactly how safe one can be. There are so many factors involved as well as one’s baseline. I’ve always lived in cities and I think that Makati is fairly easy to navigate. I wouldn’t be brandishing around expensive devices if I was walking on the street but I think it’s possible to stop and use my phone when I need to. I would avoid deserted streets or places without streetlights but on the whole, I find that local police are pretty helpful and locals would offer help as well if I need any.
