Estonia is in general super safe, very low crime levels. Just be careful walking in the old town at night cause you might find some drunk people, but if it happens and you contact the police they will immediately intervene. Lived in Tallinn for 3 years and luckily I’ve never had an issue, it’s the only city I’ve ever lived when I can walk home alone at 4am.
Posted: August 30, 2024Tallinn is pretty safe, even for women. Honestly nothing to be scared of here, especially if you stay close to the city center. Almost no homeless people, pretty loyal to law and in general people mind their business, trying not to get into your safe space.
Posted: August 20, 2024Very safe little town. Full of university students from end of august until late spring who are enjoying nightlife and beautiful Tartu vibe. Summers are beautiful and it's very nice to relax near the river where bars are open as well. Very calm and beautiful city where you can easily enjoy just being with yourself.

Tallinns is one of the safest places I have ever been. Kids go to school by themselves when they reach 7 years old - the best example I could give to show how safe is the place. Some neighbourhoods might have some alcoholic addicted men who might say or harass you but it’s not the rule here. There are very few of them and not in the central area.

I definetly feel safe Walking in the night, alone or in public transport. I have been leaving here for 10 months and I never had a bad experience. Only a few drunk men on the street or in the bus but I personally never been sexually assult or felt unsafe in general.

I feel Tallinn is a very safe city to live in. Especially the central area and Kalamaja, Northern Tallinn and Pelgulinn. I don’t worry much when walking alone late in the evening. I reccomend the city to female solo travelers.

I can say that Tallinn is very safe, and you can walk on the streets late at night comfortably. In fact, I've spent time on the beach until morning with my girlfriends, often being out late and feeling safe.
Posted: July 11, 2024As I am from Dominican Republic I still have what I guess some call “trauma” so I walk with high alert and caution everywhere, all the time. But so far everything is safe. Walking early in the morning, or in the dark (which is most of the day some months) has never been a problem. I have forgotten to lock my apartment and nothing has ever happened. In all by now, many months later of living here, I feel quite safe pretty much all the time.
Posted: July 3, 2024I have never felt safer than in Tallinn. I can walk around Tallinn in the middle of the night without feeling unsafe or afraid in any way. The only area you should avoid is Lasnamäe. I have no experience in this regard, but all the locals advise against it.

Tallinn is s very safe city, and Estonia in general is a very safe country for female travellers and hikers alike, both in groups and solo. Decent, reliable and safe public transport between major cities/towns, smaller places it might be harder to get (but they are safe, too). OK traffic if you rent a car.

I feel safe because I travelled for work and were with my colleagues. It kinda reminded my hometown, it was nice. Havent seen any red flags, prices are normal as in Baltic countries prices. I would suggest to try their national candies - Kalev!

Overall, I felt really safe in Tallinn. I would recommand going to Pirita Beach, visit the old town and take a bus to go into one of the bog around Tallinn if you are there in summer. The bog I would recommand is the Viru Bog, one hour away from Tallinn but really worth it! I would also suggest to go to the Kalev Coffee shop, in the old town. It is the oldest one is the city and it's really good!

We visited Tallinn during the independance day in February. It was an interesting and fascinating experience. The weather was unfortunately not the best but we were still able to visit the main parts of the city. Tallinn is a great City with a lot to visit. The old town as well as the beaches (in summer) are really great!

Tallinn was perfect But I highly recommend going there in warm weather because in February the place was so cold. I like the atmosphere a lot!!! Especially old town was vivid and there were a lot of good cafes and restaurants.

I am very enthusiastic about travelling, keen to learn about different cultures and every now and then travel solo. However, travelling solo brings me some uneasyness about safety - at least when travelling outside of Europe or some parts of Asia. Sharing knowledge and getting support from like-minded women would be great 🙂
