Tartu is a small city in Estonia. Here lives mostly students and this city is known as a college city. Everyone is really sweet and friendly. I haven’t heard or seen of bad acts here in Tartu. Nobody should be worrying about safety here! Everything is alright 😇
Posted: February 18, 2025Small country and nothing happens in here Russian gangs look Weird but no one really does anything and everyone keeps on themself and now one wants to talk with no one. If in trouble people will help you
Posted: February 14, 2025It’s safe here most people just stay away from you since no one really liked tourists. You can still ask for help if you need anything. Most people are respectful and don’t come close or try to talk if you don’t want to talk with them
Posted: February 13, 2025Its really safe even walking around at night time. I have never had a negative experience in here. Lots of people know English so its easy to get help. Just around all town maybe being careful about your bag can make sense but still I never heard any steals from people. Don’t worry just try to have fun!
Posted: February 9, 2025Because Haapsalu is so little, we don’t have much problems here. Streets are safe and walking in the city is safe, even in the dark. Don’t have any pickpockets nor people who would try to scam you in the streets to buy something. People are friendly and ready to help if needed. Almost everyone can speak English to some extent and can understand it.

Some parts of town i definitely would recommend skipping, like kopli and pelgulinn, but otherwise people mind their own business. It might seem like people are a bit rude, but we just like respecting everyone's space and keeping more to ourselves. You will always meet with kind people with kind eyes, when asking for directions or help. Buses and trams have cameras for safety. English is very widely spoken.
Posted: February 5, 2025I have and know a lot of people who have walked home in the dark since they were 6 or 7 y.o. There may be a few areas to avoid during night but generally Tartu is safe and quiet. The city buses have caleras in there and feel very safe to, there is are great bus connection. Police is trustable and there are even some city parts where people don’t mind leaving their front door unlocked at all times
Posted: February 2, 2025Tartu is safe but maybe i scare sometimes too much. Very many people walking and living in Tartu. You can drive with cars, motorcycles, bikes, taxis and other transportation. I love Tartu but sometimes I can’t walk there alone because I am to scared.
Posted: January 24, 2025It's a very safe small place, where even small school children walk around or use the public transport alone. The only place that can feel slightly unsafe is the main square at weekends, since there is an alcohol shop. I have been walking alone there since I was 7 years old and never felt unsafe.
Posted: January 23, 2025Estonia overall is a very safe country. This is my home country and i have never heard about someone being sexually assaulted or being robbed. Its so safe that kids go to school by themselves and travel around alone or in groups. Its safe for kids and women here.

I felt very safe there. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Although some people didn’t understand Estonian and had to talk Russian. But overall people spoke Estonian and probably could have spoken English if needed. Really recommend walking in the town. It’s so pretty and magical. Also really recommend Sillamäe museums. Really interesting if you’re interested in history.
Posted: February 8, 2025Tallinn was a very nice city! My family and I went over the holidays and it is a beautiful city. The old center is quite touristy and a bit more expensive than the rest of the city. But overall really worth it! I wouldn’t recommend staying for too long as it’s relatively small, three days should be enough!

I am very enthusiastic about travelling, keen to learn about different cultures and every now and then travel solo. However, travelling solo brings me some uneasyness about safety - at least when travelling outside of Europe or some parts of Asia. Sharing knowledge and getting support from like-minded women would be great 🙂
