in the day light it’s pretty safe, but people around are usually alcoholic or with no place to live do not walk in the dark!! however there are cool cafes and beaches: stroomi rand and paljassare that are pretty. not really safe place to stay, but good connection with city centre: trams are going till 23:00 or mb later
Posted: June 6, 2025Walking alone as a woman at night feels safe, barely any people around and if anyone is there then all of them are minding their own business, barely no one approaches anyone. Even in winter dark in evening it's nothing to worry about, there is no one chasing anybody. There could be lot of drunks but they do not cause a threat.
Posted: May 29, 2025As a woman living alone,Tallinn is very safe. I can go for runs or walk home alone even at night without feeling uneasy. Public transportation is reliable, clean, and safe. The city is compact, calm, and well lit, and people generally mind their own business.
Posted: May 20, 2025As someone who goes to school in Tallinn and hangs around there very often, I can say Tallinn is a very safe place. I personally have never experienced anything serious when using the public transportation or walking the streets at night. Of course you have to be a little cautious, just like in any other place but overall, not much to worry about
Posted: May 16, 2025Good small town, lots of students. Tartu has quite a cozy old city center. In 2024 it was the Cultural Capital of Europe. Most of the locals of 18-35y.o. speak/understand English. There are nice places to eat, lots of parks and a nice river to swim in.

Incredibly safe at most places even at night and for lonely people. The only places troubles may occur at are the farthest places from the city centre, tho even they are moderately safe. You can feel free to be yourself and out of judgement or harassment

Tallinn was incredible! It is a small (at least the old town) mediaeval town absolutely gorgeous. We went there with a group of friends and spent 2 lovely days visiting. The city felt very safe (but I was never alone). I would really recommend doing a walking tour (we did the free tour called Tales of Reval which I really recommend). And for food we really liked Pulla bakery and Rataskaevu 16.
Posted: May 12, 2025Experienced: March, 2025I visited the city for Folk Music Festival and it was amazing experience! Many people attended it and everyone was friendly and helpful. Local people created welcoming atmosphere for my stay and overall no problems occurred. The city is inexpensive and compact, so it’s easy to get to any place if not on foot, but with a bike for sure.
