It's a bustling city. Famous places are always crowded, which makes it safe to walk among the crowd if you don't stand out. I feel safe travelling after dark as long as it's not later than 10 PM, the streets start becoming quite after that. The metro network is very convenient and safe to travel with to explore the city :)!
Posted: April 16, 2025Not save to walk around alone in the midnight you'll always find someone trying to harrash you anywhere and they don't care about you so you have to he with someone when you're out and walking around in the night
Posted: March 28, 2025Cairo is generally safe. People are kind, and pose no threat to your safety. What you should watch out for is Bazars, not so popular shops and taxis as they might charge you more as a tourist. Best practice is to order Uber as the price is set fairly and to decline offers from Bazar shops. Shop at big stores and eat at restaurants where the prices are already set and printed. It's also smart to wear modestly in case you plan to walk and shop for a long time on the streets.

Cairo is fairly safe if you are or with locals. Going around busy areas is safer in comparison to quieter areas, so stick to the crowd but watch out for sexual harassment and groping. As a solo female traveller you need to be very alert, particularly if you look foreign or dress different enough to stand out. Make female friends and travel around with them, they know what to do. If you can find a male friend you can trust, that works too.

Been here 12 years and it is far safer than Auckland, New Zealand where I'm from. Very rare for people to be robbed or mugged. It's more traffic safety that's a real concern. Like anywhere use your logic and be mindful.

Cairo is great if you get clicked with locals, we're joking all the time, it'll seem like harassing if you didn't catch up on what they're saying but we're just communicating like fireworks overall it's great for solo travelers who're interested in culture and night life.

most areas are safe, but it's always better to be extra safe than sorry..try not to go out after midnight if ur staying in old cairo for instance..but ive been living here the whole lot of my life and never once was i robbed/mugged and if anyone tries to sexually harass you, believe me u should call him out on his shit, and i promise that people around you are the ones that'll get revenge on him for such an act

Like any other 3rd world country. If you’re a frequent traveler, you’ll know that nowhere is really safe, but it’s not like mafia level unsafe! 😂 just be careful where you end up. All under the traveller’s responsibility, I am not responsible for anything that happens under the traveller’s decisions.
Posted: February 4, 2025Cairo is very safe with lots of good places to visit. however Cairo is very big and safety levels are very various depending on your location. Some places are very safe some are not but I would say keep with places that are known and tourism friendly
Posted: January 31, 2025Safety varies depending on the area you will be staying in. Safer areas to stay in: 5th settlement & Zayed, maadi, zamalek, west al balad (very historical and beautiful, still very safe but the least safe on the list) ofcourse there are other neighborhoods but I just mentioned the safest ones

I spent four months in Cairo as an exchange student, and I absolutely loved the city! Egypt, often called the cradle of civilization, is filled with incredible history, culture, and breathtaking sights. If you’re passionate about history and culture, Cairo will feel like heaven! I spent almost every weekend traveling around, yet I still couldn’t see everything—it’s a place that keeps surprising you. And if you’re going to Egypt, you should definitely visit Alexandria, Siwa, and Luxor as well. My favorite restaurant in Cairo is definitely Tasha Restaurant in Mounira. You can eat handmade Egyptian food from mr dear friend Amr. I was always eating there, the prices are so cheap and the quality is really good, the most importantly you can have the chance to meet Amr, one of the great people of Cairo. Regarding safety, I’d say the city is generally safe, but for women, I highly recommend going with friends rather than alone. As an alone foreigner lady, you might attract attention, and unfortunately, street harassment can happen. However, with some precautions and a bit of street awareness, you can still have an amazing experience exploring this fascinating city! If anyone has questions about traveling to Egypt, feel free to ask!
Posted: January 30, 2025My trip to Egypt was amazing! I explored the Pyramids of Giza, sailed on the Nile, and enjoyed the beautiful Red Sea beaches. The rich history, delicious food, and warm hospitality made it unforgettable.

I am a 18 year old egyptien living in Cairo, I love to meditate and to do yoga pretty badly but I enjoy doing it so it doesn't matter I love playing guitar, drawing / painting and I am learning to make sculptures, I am down to experience literally anything as long as it doesn't kill me, I work on living in the moment as much as I can, I'm also trying to learn new languages rn it's french and Italian, I try not judge anyone for doing anything different or unusual on the contrary it inspires me, I respect everyone's beliefs and opinions even if I don't agree with them I don't like to argue about that or convince someone to think like I do I think everyone should have thier own opinions freely
