Overall It's safe here in Egypt but also you have to take care from strangers around you , the public transportation is surely safe , also walking alone in the streets is safe but you don't have to trust anyone also

There is a concerning culture of sexual assault as there is in most heteronormative societies that have sexual and religious shame. Catcalling is very common, as long as you know where you’re going and stay in good areas you’ll be safe

Although cat calling is very common here, I’d say that I generally feel very safe. Egyptians are very warm and kind, and if they see anyone in distress everyone will come running to help. Having my belongings stolen is rarely a concern. Although I have to say that this highly depends on the area you’re in; being in an area where middle to upper class people are sitting, you don’t have to be as careful. Which is why I’d say that public transport is a no go. I personally have not been on one, but I hear that metros are fine; you still have to dress modestly tho, and with that being said there are women only cars. but i would highly advise against any other form of public transport.

It's fine in most places, especially the more luxurious spots, but non-Egyptians should be a bit more cautious because they tend to stand out and be more noticeable. It's not dangerous, just something to be mindful of.

Cairo is safer than people assume, pickpocketing is the thing to worry about most and maybe over priced taxis. Also, the culture in Egypt is modest in dressing, so tank tops or shorts might get you some unwanted attention. General safety precautions should be taken like not walking in deserted areas at night.
Posted: October 6, 2024Egypt is the mother of the world I can’t describe how I feel safe when i go there it’s crowded all the time day and night so u can’t feel like being alone and not safe the people are so nice and kind
Posted: August 25, 2024Specific areas are very safe like new cairo: 5th settlement, heliopolis, zayed. Touristic places are fairly safe but with a guide or as a group. People are mostly friendly and very helpful just be ware of scammers who try to sell things overpriced. The best is to have arranged transportation with your hotel or rent a car. Dress moderately so nothing revealing, normal pants and half sleeves.

Not safe because of lack of traffic rules, cars drive like crazy , there aren’t enough pedestrian crossings and traffic lights. Public transportation is mostly very low maintenance, crowded, chaotic. Not easy to figure out how to get to a place by public transport because a lot of unofficial and unumbered vehicles, and there are seldom any bus stops , you literally stop the bus anywhere. Not all places are safe for women. Stares are common, cat talk are common and even in crowded places can be a physical touch. Overall Egypt is a great touristic country but travelled in a group or with a local host, but not solo.

cairo generally is safe but to be on the safest side, it is preferred to stay in groups and not go out past mid night alone without a company. If you have a friend or a local who can drive you back late that would be the safest option.

Cairo is a must to get to Giza. The old museum is still worth a visit, and people can be helpful and lovely. Uber was rather safe and effective form of travel. However finding a decent place to stay in the city is a challenge. Overall, try to stay closer to Memphis or Giza and really just try to get to Luxor. Best. Place. Ever. If you want a cheap and amazing company, Aladdin family tours has hotels and guides for stupidly cheap. All the Instagram worthy photos you could want from their restaurant overlooking the Nile and they always book an Egyptologist to show you round. They are so sweet and won’t scam you in Luxor or Cairo.
Posted: June 12, 2024Traveling to Egypt was a great experience! Cairo city is super cheap and you can use taxi app al the time without worry for the price. The food is amazing, especially if your hosts or hotel are Egyptian, they will prepare absolutely delicious food for you. Males are a bit intrusive some times, just be cautious. A lot of people spoke Spanish to my surprise, so do not say anything bad about your host because they might understand you lol. Overall have cash ready because there is not many card payment options.
