Alexandria is a crowded city, but people are helpful and any one can show the road if you are lost they can offer you help. Make sure also to take care generally like any place in the world better to be in public places and not to go somewhere when it's very late at night, being by the sea is the most you can feel safe and fell the beauty of the city

It is indeed safe, except for catcalling and mild sexual harassment in certain areas which I strongly suggest you should stay away from specially late at night. I also suggest you have some advice from locals on where to go and where to stay away from.
Posted: February 4, 2025It is pretty safe actually, specially if you stay in a known hotel and neighberhood.. We got uber and public transportation, our tramways have cars only for women. Staying late till 12 out isn't usually a problem, specially if it is somewhere where a lot of people go.

Egypt generally isn't safe (born and raised here my whole life.) People say you just have to dress modestly to avoid sexual harassment but trust me, no one in Egypt even wears anything revealing and yet sexual harassment is at an all time high. I experience it everywhere I go and now I just ignore it because it's too much. I literally get cat called over my hair being curly or my outfit having colors or anything at all. I wouldn't visit Egypt as a woman tbh.

Went during the overthrow of the Muslim Brotherhood (unsure if it was 12’ or 13’) nonetheless I was not a fan. I am tan Latina and I found myself feeling unwelcomed in many circumstances. I recall my white roommate encouraging me to approach the natives while I was out and about on my own. I did just that and was met with many unkind faces. There were so many instances where the natives were simply awful i.e. unkind. I am not familiar with the climate of today — i.e. whether they continue to be close-minded, ignorant, colorist, and racist as POCs (which baffles me). But I have always empathized to many of my Arabic language exchange partners that I would not return.
