Alexandria is a crowded city, but people are helpful and any one can show the road if you are lost they can offer you help. Make sure also to take care generally like any place in the world better to be in public places and not to go somewhere when it's very late at night, being by the sea is the most you can feel safe and fell the beauty of the city

It is indeed safe, except for catcalling and mild sexual harassment in certain areas which I strongly suggest you should stay away from specially late at night. I also suggest you have some advice from locals on where to go and where to stay away from.
Posted: February 4, 2025It is pretty safe actually, specially if you stay in a known hotel and neighberhood.. We got uber and public transportation, our tramways have cars only for women. Staying late till 12 out isn't usually a problem, specially if it is somewhere where a lot of people go.

Egypt generally isn't safe (born and raised here my whole life.) People say you just have to dress modestly to avoid sexual harassment but trust me, no one in Egypt even wears anything revealing and yet sexual harassment is at an all time high. I experience it everywhere I go and now I just ignore it because it's too much. I literally get cat called over my hair being curly or my outfit having colors or anything at all. I wouldn't visit Egypt as a woman tbh.

Alexandria is very safe and warm country. People are awake 24/7 so I usually feel safe walking even after midnight, however, don’t walk in an empty street alone; some beggars might bother you with bad words

There's a very low chance of anyone being attacked or targeted in Alexandria, the people here are quite peaceful and keep to themselves. It's rare for any sort of crime to take place, and usually when it does it's only due to a feud between locals, so there's no reason to worry.
Posted: January 3, 2025Alexandria is a very safe city and you can walk at any time in 24/7 to be honest I don't prefer walking alone after 11pm but it still safe and people are so friendly and helpful and cops is everywhere to protect you
Posted: December 25, 2024it's generally safe but you have to keep attention to walk alone in an empty street in the darkness, apart from that everything is okay , also not keeping in mind having modest clothes to avoid any attraction.
Posted: November 19, 2024Alexandria is a lively city. This makes it a bit safe to be in at night as streets will be very busy until 12-1AM. It is after those hours that it starts feeling a bit unsafe for me. Catcalls from men are frequent specially if you have a unique feature that stands out. (For me it was my blonde curly hair). Dressing different will also get you looks, however, physical harassment is not as frequent as verbal harassment, which is still not ideal but easier to ignore.

Went during the overthrow of the Muslim Brotherhood (unsure if it was 12’ or 13’) nonetheless I was not a fan. I am tan Latina and I found myself feeling unwelcomed in many circumstances. I recall my white roommate encouraging me to approach the natives while I was out and about on my own. I did just that and was met with many unkind faces. There were so many instances where the natives were simply awful i.e. unkind. I am not familiar with the climate of today — i.e. whether they continue to be close-minded, ignorant, colorist, and racist as POCs (which baffles me). But I have always empathized to many of my Arabic language exchange partners that I would not return.
Posted: April 1, 2024The city of Alexandria was a very beautiful city with a lot of fun, excitement, and many special places to visit and enjoy the beach, especially at night. It is a very charming city, as well as the people in it.
