Female Couch Surfing in Seattle

Couch surfing in Seattle is a truly enriching experience. It offers an exceptional way to explore the city. The advantage is two-fold: not only is it considerably economical, but it also offers an opportunity to connect with locals and fellow travelers. Becoming acquainted with new people exposes you to various cultures and exciting perspectives. It gives you a glimpse of Seattle through the eyes of a resident, taking you off the beaten path to experience authentic local gems. This approach transforms travel from merely visiting a place to fully experiencing its culture.

About me

Hi! I’ve got wanderlust like many of you and have used Couchsurfing extensively in the past with some strange experiences with men hoping for more than a guest, so I figured I would see what else is out there to make some more genuine and safe connections as I travel. I have been to 18 countries, finding joy in simply wandering and taking photos of nature, the the crowds and street art… and feeling like a local — I don’t spend much time in bars, clubs or sitting on beaches, but I do hit many of the tourist spots. I consider myself open and willing to meet new people for all the stories and knowledge we can share! In the US, I am an avid hiker and reader and leader of potlucks and excursions for fun and work in public health for money — although I just applied for a psychology program because people intrigue me! I’m happy to chat or meet or stay at your place or you at mine.

About me

Hi, I’m Lizzie. I’m an older lady with a chronic illness who is just getting into Vanlife travel. I’m exploring the possibility of finding a travel partner who has their own van, who wants to see all the wonders of the country, but at a slow pace. Maybe starting next year. I’m in Washington State and like to get away during the long, grey winters. I have a ProMaster 1500, about half self-converted.

Local experience

Seattle is quite safe at night, but I would recommend that you keep your wits about you if walking alone in Downtown or International District. People may try to talk to you, but are generally harmless. The light rail is good for getting from the airport to Downtown and Capitol Hill, and buses will take you to other parts of town (albeit perhaps with a transfer). In the winter, Seattle can be quite dreary but a trip to the mountains to see snow and taking the ferry to the surrounding islands makes for a nice getaway. In the summer, go to a local beach (Golden Gardens or Alki) to have a picnic and watch the sunset over a bonfire.

Local experience

I spent many days wandering around Seattle and I can say that Seattle is generally a safe place for adventures. Golden Gardens Park, Alki Beach, Mercer Slough, Arboretum, and Seattle Center are all beautiful places. For day trips, I recommend Rainier or Olympic National Park or the San Juan Islands. Many people avoid the area between Westlake Centre and Pike’s Market after dark. It's safe enough there, but sometimes it can seem dangerous. The public library in downtown Seattle is my place for remote work.
