About me

I’m a high school language teacher, and although I’m older, I have a youthful attitude. I like to meet new people, try new food, and learn something new as I explore new places. I prefer spending longer times in 1 place rather than a day or two in many places. Plain and simple. I love to host visitors and take them around, too.

About Me

I am a spirited explorer fueled by a deep love for travel and adventure. From the bustling streets of vibrant cities to the serene landscapes of remote villages, I find joy in every corner of the world I discover. With a curiosity for different cultures and a palate for diverse cuisines, I dive headfirst into each new destination, eager to soak up every experience and encounter along the way. Whether it's getting lost in a maze of narrow alleyways or savoring the flavors of exotic street food, I embrace the unknown with open arms, relishing in the magic of exploration. For me, travel is more than just visiting new places—it's about immersing myself in the essence of each location, connecting with locals, and learning from their stories. Every journey leaves an indelible mark on my soul, enriching my perspective and igniting my sense of wonder. I eagerly await the next chapter of my endless journey of discovery.

About Me

Hi! I am Dineke and I loveee to travel and meet new people. In 2017 I quit my then job to travel the world and take a sabbatical. This took around 4 years (even during covid when I stayed in Portugal as this was the first country to go green in Europe back then). I have been to the south of Europe, starting in Paris, then off to Spain, Portugal and Italy before heading to Colombia. Here I did voluntary work at hostels to provide for room and board. After I went to the US and New Zealand, then Israel and finally 1 year in Portugal. Truly an adventure of a lifetime. However I also longed for some more solid ground under my feet and because of this I returned to my home country and got a steady position as a psychology teacher at university while also being the CEO of my own business Happiness First.

Is United States worth visiting?

Family travel experience

I visited my family in California, and my experience was pretty good. I recommend visiting Hollywood Studios, the Science Museum, Santa Monica, and the Santa Barbara Pier.I tried Mexican food many times during my stay

Group travel experience

For 25 days, we traveled through 4 states - California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. We visited 8 national parks. I must admit, the United States was never at the top of my travel list, but it completely enchanted me. The nature, people, atmosphere, food - everything was amazing. The route: Los Angeles – Big Sur – San Francisco – Yosemite National Park – Sequoia National Park – Death Valley – Las Vegas – Fire Valley – Zion National Park – Bryce Canyon National Park – Canyonlands National Park – Arches National Park – Monument Valley – Horse Shoe Bend – Grand Canyon National Park – Route 66 – Los Angeles. We traveled a total of about 6000 km. We slept in camping sites, which I think is the coolest way to travel in this part of the States. Camping here is very popular and affordable. An admission ticket is required to enter national parks. The most cost-effective option is definitely to purchase an Annual Pass. It's a card that allows you to enter all national parks in the USA for one year. We usually prepared our own breakfasts and dinners. A few times, we ate out. The portions were huge and every dish was delicious.
