Solo travel experience

Switzerland is so clean and safe! A bit expensive, since they use swiss francs, and the people tend to be quiet and keep to themselves (from my experience, which is fine because I'm the same way), but its so beautiful and peaceful there.

Solo travel experience

Did one of my first solo trips in Switzerland. Great place to try out solo travel. It’s a very easy place to get around, very safe, and most people speak English.

Safety tips for solo female travellers in Switzerland

Switzerland can be a safe destination for solo female travelers, but it's important to take some precautions to ensure your safety. Here are some safety tips for solo female travelers in Switzerland:

  1. Before travelling to Switzerland, it is important to research the area you are visiting. This includes learning about the culture, customs, and any potential safety risks.

  2. When travelling alone, it is important to stay aware of your surroundings. Be aware of people around you and trust your instincts if something doesn’t feel right.

  3. It is best to avoid travelling alone at night, especially in unfamiliar areas. If you must travel at night, try to stay in well-lit and populated areas.

  4. Public transportation is a safe and reliable way to get around Switzerland. Make sure to research the routes and schedules before travelling.

  5. When choosing accommodation, make sure to select a secure and reputable hotel or hostel. Check reviews and ask questions before booking.

  6. When travelling alone, it is important to keep your valuables secure. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash and keep your passport and other important documents in a secure place.

  7. Pickpockets are common in tourist areas, so it is important to be aware of your surroundings and keep your valuables secure.

  8. Learning some basic phrases in the local language can be helpful when travelling in Switzerland. This can help you communicate with locals and get assistance if needed.

  9. Before travelling, it is important to have a plan. Make sure to let someone know where you are going and when you plan to return.

  10. In case of an emergency, it is important to have a backup plan. Have a list of emergency contacts and make sure to carry a charged mobile phone.

Solo travelWhich city is better for a mix of city life, day trips, and nightlife: Zurich or Geneva?

I’m off to Switzerland and was wondering what city would be preferable to base myself in- Zurich or Geneva? I want the best of both, the city feel and the opportunity to do a day excursion to beautiful mountainous parts of the country. I also like a good party. Which would be better?

I'm going on a trip with group of friends this week to Switzerland. We are going to Lucerne, Interlaken and Zurich. We didn't get to plan it because life happened. We are excited to nature most of all. Does anyone have any suggestions, tips or experiences?

TravelWhat other towns/cities should we visit in Switzerland?

What towns/cities should we visit in Switzerland? We have 2 days and we thought of Geneva and Zurich, but we would also like a small village near the mountains.
