Croatia was my first solo trip, and I stayed with people through Couchsurfing. Everyone was so kind – I met many beautiful souls and had such a positive experience. I really recommend solo traveling, it teaches you a lot and opens your heart. The places I visited were amazing – I stayed in Zadar and also went island hopping. One of the islands I visited was Ošljak, which was so peaceful and beautiful.

This was my favorite place to have a port call when I was deployed in the Navy. There was a shopping mall.. Castle? That was dope. The food was great and generally I just had a really good time visiting with my friends

Croatia was an amazing experience!! We went to Dubrovnik and Zagreb and also a brief stop in Rijeka! If you’re a Game of Throne fan (before season 8😭) you have to take a GOT tour while in Dubrovnik! We did a boat tour and wow seeing the coast is wonderful! The food is very affordable in Zagreb went to what felt like fine dining for 4 people and the bill was 67 euros for all of us! I’m planning on going back it was so wonderful!

In Trogir: When I was there, I felt really safe. We were on the coast of the sea and we were in a really nice apartment with my family, so there was no reason to worry. There are a lot of bars and facilities there overall, like exploring the sea by boat, or diving a bit. I don't have restaurant recommendations because we tried to not spejd too much and bought things from a little shop and made out own food in the self-catering apartment. We could get around by just a short walk, because a lot of things were close.

The park is breathtakingly beautiful. The area is really huge, I recommend taking food, lots of water and energy with you, you will walk for hours. Impossible to make a mistake on the paths, everything is very clear with the signs. I find the cost to enter pretty high, but all in all it's really worth it. Clean and well maintained place and also well connected, you can get there easily with flixbus or other companies. I highly recommend it!
Posted: April 10, 2025Experienced: March, 2024Split is safe but in crouds be alert of scammers and pisckpockets. Accommodation is not the cheapest and also food. There were a lot of altivities and public transport was eazy and covered the whole area.

Zagreb is an amazing city with so many beautiful things to see. I enjoyed the food and drinks over there. Also I felt really safe even at night. It's a really beautiful city.A little pricey but not too much
Posted: April 2, 2025Experienced: March, 2024I traveled from Zagreb to Zadar, Split/Hvar and Dubrovnik by Flixbus. Pretty easy using the bus as the it's not that expensive and the trips are not that long. In Zadar 'Backpackers Home' is definitely a hostel I recommend! It's a super cosy hostel with a nice garden where you can chill and meet fellow travellers. I really loved the country as you get a good mixture of nature and smaller cities. Besides that it's also super safe for a solo female traveller! Because of the fact that the country became really popular last few years it also means the prices increased, but it's still pretty affordable. Only Dubrovnik is reallye expensive... One of the advantages of Dubrovnik on the other hand is that you can easily do a daytrip to Montenegro (Kotor) or Herzegovina (Mostar) which I would really recommend! For me Croatia was an ideal country to do for a first solo trip! I met some amazing people along the way...

I spent seven days in Split, and as a young woman, I felt completely safe. The streets are lively, especially at night, with lots of people around. Because of that, I never felt unsafe or alone. It’s definitely a great destination for solo female travelers.

Zagreb is claimed to be the safest European city to walk alone at night two years in a row now. I have walked many nights alone and I always felt safe. The only creeps are grandpas that can have comments.
