Safety:Very safe

Kaua'i, like most tourist destinations in the United States, is generally considered quite safe. However, it is important to exercise the same common sense precautions you would anywhere, such as being aware of your surroundings, not leaving valuables unattended, and being cautious when traveling alone at night. Outdoor activities and water sports are popular on the island, so it is recommended to heed local advice and weather warnings to ensure personal safety. Local communities are friendly, and law enforcement presence is visible.

Transport:Moderate

Traveling around Kaua'i is somewhat manageable. The island is not that large, so distances are manageable. Public transport does not cover the entire island extensively which might require combining it with walking, biking or renting a vehicle. However, the beauty and pace of the island make the journey part of the experience.

Things to do:Interesting

Kaua'i offers a diverse array of activities for the solo female traveler. With its pristine beaches, waterfalls, and hiking trails, the island is a stunning location for outdoor enthusiasts. Gorgeous spots like Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon offer unique experiences for hikers while beaches like Poipu offer sun, sand, and sea. Additionally, the island is dotted with charming coffee shops and local markets that sell fresh produce and handmade crafts. However, the nightlife is relatively calm and might not appeal to those seeking a lively night scene.

Food:Above average

In Kaua'i, the food scene is quite impressive. It offers a diverse range of cuisines, from traditional Hawaiian dishes to other international cuisines. Fresh sea food is a standout due to the island location and local produce is amazing, answering to the growing farm-to-table movement. There might be fewer gourmet options compared to bigger cities though, hence the score is not the maximum.

Budget:Moderate

Kaua'i is a midrange budget destination. The main expenses you’ll encounter are accommodation and dining; especially fine dining can be quite costly. Cheap food options though are available, and you can save by opting for budget accommodations or vacation rentals. Attractions like beaches and hiking trails are mostly free, but activities like snorkeling or boat tours can be pricey. Car rentals can add to the cost, but are almost a necessity for exploring the island.

Solo travel experience

Itinerary: I’ve loved Kaua’i!! Lots of beautiful waterfalls, hikes and nature. I’ve been there back in 2017 for about 10 days. Things to do: I spent most my time hiking and going to different beaches. Food: Puke Bowls are heaven there! Safety: I did feel safe but I was not out at night. Budget: I was only a student so I did not have a big budged, if you buy local stuff it’s not expensive. I stayed at an AirBnB Accommodation: I enjoyed my stay, it was a good price about 80$ a night. Recommendations: Eat the Puke Bowls, go hiking!! And enjoy the nature.
