Safety:Very safe

Dubai, is largely safe for solo female travelers. The city is one of the safest in the Middle East due to strict laws that are heavily enforced. Petty crime rates are considerably low and violent crime is rare. However, it's still a good idea to exercise common caution and aware of local customs and laws. It's especially important to respect local dress codes and public behavior regulations to avoid any unnecessary attention or issues.

Transport:Easy

Dubai offers plenty of options for getting around, from a well-connected metro system to a large fleet of taxis. Navigation is straight-forward with English translations on traffic signs, and numerous hotels provide shuttles to popular sites. However, be aware of rush hours and the summer heat when planning your day.

Things to do:Interesting

Dubai is a bustling city with a diverse and international vibe, offering travel experiences from traditional to ultra-modern. From exploring the old town of Deira, where you can visit the Gold and Spice Souk, to taking a desert safari or enjoying the magnificent views from the Burj Khalifa, the highest skyscraper in the world. It's also a paradise for shoppers with mega malls, luxury boutiques and designer stores. The city has a cosmopolitan food scene, with everything from Middle Eastern to Asian cuisine, and a thriving art scene, with numerous galleries and creative spaces. However, it's important to be mindful of local customs and religious practices, especially as a solo female traveler. Dubai may not be the best choice for those seeking more adventurous outdoor activities or a more authentic cultural experience.

Food:Excellent

Dubai, offers an incredible culinary journey with an impressive assortment of diverse cuisines. You are spoilt for choice between traditional Middle Eastern cuisine, such as shawarmas and hummus, to food from all over the globe; Asian, European, Latin and more. Emirati hospitality extends to the dining experience, and you can find both extravagant dining places and simple, wholesome meals that cater to varying budgets. The city has embraced vegan and vegetarian diets too, accommodating all dietary needs. Street food is also a must-try, especially in the old quarters of the city for a more local experience.

Budget:Moderate

Dubai can be both affordable and expensive, depending on your lifestyle and choices. There's a wide range of options in dining, accommodation, and shopping from low-end to high-end. Using public transportation can save you money. However, popular tourist attractions may often have steep entry fees, and the general cost of living is high compared to other destinations.

I felt safe in Dubai, I could walk at 2am and still feel safe. I stayed there for 2 months apt is expensive if I want a good location. Food is good but I liked the food in sharjah better as it was more authentic. I did a few activities through viator and facebook. So met some cool people.

Dubai is very safe for women in general. I recommend traveling here even if you're solo. The public beaches aren't the perfect place tho. Some people stare at you awkwardly when you're in a bikini. So maybe you can try private beach clubs or sth

This city is ABSOLUTELY amazing! I was traveling solo and I really felt safe there. Though it was quite expensive, it's totally worth it! It's like a mini-Europe type of city with skyscrappers, and beautiful places to see! I totally recommend visiting it.

Family travel experience

First time in Dubai during the summer - Encountered no safety problems or language barriers, everyone extremely friendly with a large expat population - Never ran out of things to do on a 10 day trip, highly recommend 1-2 days out to Abu Dhabi if time permits - Dubai is a generally expensive city, but you can cut costs by going in the low season (the summer) like I did. Be aware that it will mean going out to the beaches in the day virtually impossible as most of our outings were indoors

I had a great trip to Dubai recently. I have visited many times before but for this trip I was here for COP28 and to try different foods. I felt very safe in Dubai as a woman and protected - there’s lots of security and police around and people to help. I stayed in an Airbnb close to the metro station which was convenient to get around easily. The food varies from place to place dependent on your budget but overall there are strong safety standards for food and quality. The local Emirati people have been so friendly and hospitable and it was a fantastic experience this time. I would recommend Dubai for anyone regardless of budget.

Family travel experience

I went on a girls' trip last month with my sisters to Dubai, it was pretty nice, we had a lot of fun, there are lots of activities and it's pretty safe for women even at night, we stayed at the canal business hotel and used the Careem app to get around the city. I would recommend preparing a fairly large budget because most of the activities are quite expensive.

Group travel experience

Dubai is really a lovely place for a vacation. It took me a few days to get used to the heat, but despite that, I enjoyed my stay. I first stayed at First Collection JVC, and then moved with friends to the Rove Hotel, around the Marina axis, to have access to all the entertainment places. The food was fine, and the view from my hotel room was extraordinary. Jet skiing, shooting range, and desert safari were my favorite attractions. I will definitely visit this place again.

What can I say about Dubai? The most amazing city in the world! I felt safe and I used to take night walks along Dubai Marina Walk alone. It was so beautiful and I cannot wait to go back soon. Do no skip a boat ride in Dubai Marina. As cheap as AED 100 for 2 hours.

Local tips

I live in Dubai and honestly, as a woman, I love this place, we are very respected here. There are people who stare, but you know you are safe. Even when I go to a party, I never have problems with catching a taxi, drinking alcohol or wearing whatever I want.

We have a metro system that runs along the main road cutting through the city (Sheikh Zayed Road). The suburb where the Museum of the Future is located is primarily a business district. We are not a city where a lot of walking is done, but improvements are beginning to appear in this regard, for example, pedestrian paths. I would recommend accommodation in Downtown, Marina or Palm (although the city center is literally two metro stations from the museum). Taxis are also ridiculously cheap.
