Solo Female Travel in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates, located in the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula, is an exotic tapestry of opulence, culture, and modernity. Known for its iconic skyline with architectural marvels such as the world's tallest tower, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and the spectacular Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, this tourist haven continually leaves visitors awestruck. Aside from the glamorous city life, the UAE is famous for its vast sandy deserts offering adventurous dune bashing experiences, bustling traditional souks where bargaining is a norm, and a luxurious lifestyle which includes high-end shopping and gastronomical delights. Its rich Bedouin heritage, which is often showcased in its museums and cultural festivals, blends harmoniously with its contemporary vibe, making the UAE a must-visit travel destination.

Safety:Safe

United Arab Emirates is generally safe for solo female travelers. The country has strict laws ensuring overall safety and security. There is respect for rules and regulations, and serious crimes are rare. However, the cultural norms and rules can be strict, particularly regarding dress code and behavior. It's advisable to familiarize yourself with these rules and respect them. Solo women travelers should take precautions just as they would traveling in any major city worldwide.

Transport:Easy

Getting around the UAE largely straightforward. The majority of signs and directions are bilingual in Arabic and English, making navigation easier. The infrastructure is modern and well-developed, particularly in major cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Local and intercity options are abundant, offering choices between taxis, public buses, and metro systems. More traditional means such as water taxis are also available. However, it could be challenging in remote desert areas where public transportation is limited.

Things to do:Interesting

United Arab Emirates offers a wide range of activities, from shopping in lavish malls to exploring beautiful mosques and historic museums. It's an excellent choice for adventurers who want to try dune bashing or camel trekking. Its modern cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi host a multitude of architectural wonders. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy the serene desert landscapes and beautiful oases. Although generally safe for solo female travelers, some may find the cultural restrictions a bit challenging.

Food:Excellent

United Arab Emirates offers a unique culinary experience, encapsulating Middle Eastern traditions while incorporating international influences. A wide range of choices from local Emirati dishes to familiar global cuisines are available. Seafood, lamb and rice form the bedrock of local dishes, often spiced with flavors like saffron, cardamom, and turmeric. For those with a sweet tooth, desserts like luqaimat (deep-fried dough balls in date syrup) are not to be missed. Variety being the spice of life, UAE's food scene is a vibrant patchwork of tastes and aromas that speaks to its cosmopolitan makeup.

Budget:Moderate

United Arab Emirates offers a mixture of both luxury and budget-friendly options. While accommodation, dining, and attractions can be expensive, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, there are still plenty of affordable choices available such as cheaper markets, street food, and public transportation. The cost heavily depends on the lifestyle and preferences of the traveler.

Solo travel experience

This trip was my first one out of Egypt as solo traveler. I dis enjoy my time there and got to know new people. As I like nature, I did a hiking trip which was amazing. UAE is very very safe. Make sure to visit Khorfakan, and the global village. If you like walking, you would enjoy your time there.

Solo travel experience

Lots to do, beautiful beaches, very modern. I have been to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, both cities are used to tourists and expatriates, so when it comes to clothing, there is no need to cover up excessively, unless you feel more comfortable that way. In smaller surrounding areas, I covered my shoulders and didn't wear anything that reached above the knee, just out of respect. If you go to the Grand Mosque (which I would recommend, it's beautiful), they require you to cover up, and you will get something like a hood or cape to wear inside. But on the beaches, bikinis are perfectly acceptable.
