Safety:Safe

Mugla is generally considered safe for solo female travelers. The locals are typically friendly and helpful. However, as in any tourist area, petty crime like pickpocketing can be an issue. You should also be aware of cultural differences and practice good judgement to avoid uncomfortable situations. It is advised to dress modestly and respect local customs to blend in. Increased safety precautions such as staying in well-traveled areas, avoiding isolated or dark places especially at night, and using only official transportation services would also be beneficial.

Transport:Moderate

Mugla, while beautiful and culturally rich, is a bit spread out, with diverse landscapes and attractions scattered across the region. Public transportation is available, but not extremely convenient - frequency varies and English isn't widely spoken. Renting a car is an option, but local road conditions may be challenging for foreign motorists. Walking around the city center is easy, but some areas have steep inclines. Knowing a little Turkish could significantly improve your navigation experience.

Things to do:Interesting

Mugla offers a wide array of activities for the solo female traveler. You can explore ancient ruins such as Kaunos and Letoon, or if you enjoy nature, the beautiful Fethiye Oludeniz Beach and Saklikent Gorge await. For those interested in culture and history, the Mugla City Museum or the Fethiye Museum offer insightful exhibits. The city is also renowned for its culinary delights, and local markets like Mugla Market are a treat for food enthusiasts. Evenings can be spent enjoying the vibrant cafe culture or simply strolling the charming city streets. However, the city might lack some large-scale attractions, hence it's not full marks.

Food:Excellent

The food in Mugla will certainly delight your taste buds. The area offers a rich and diverse range of meals with a harmonious blend of spices, vegetables, and proteins. Traditional Turkish food like kebabs, mezes, and seafood dishes are incredibly abundant, often made with locally grown, fresh ingredients. Vegetarians also have a plethora of delightful dishes to enjoy. And don't forget about the scrumptious desserts like baklava. The food culture is a real highlight when visiting the region.

Budget:Affordable

Mugla, is considerably budget-friendly. Accommodation, public transportation, and delectable local cuisine are all available at a reasonable cost. The local markets and bazaars also offer affordable shopping opportunities. Although entrance fees for certain historical sites and tours may slightly elevate your budget, overall, it is a cost-effective destination for solo female travelers.

It was safe. We swam in gorgeous Beaches. The sea was amazing. All the food was delicious. But it was too hot for me. I used sun cream like hourly but even that much wasn't enough. I got some kind of allergy on my skin.

Koycegiz is a small town next to Marmaris, on the Turkish west coast. 🇹🇷 The advantage of going to Koycegiz is that it is not known by tourists. It's touristy on a local scale so there are still activities to do. There is a huge lake, surrounded by mountains. 🏔 The farthest activity to do is the boat trip which will take you across the lake to the Turkish baths, mud baths and hot baths. Then you will take the boat back to the tombs of the kings, engraved in the rock. Then you will eat grilled fish directly on board the boat. Finally you will go to the turtle beach! 🐢 The excursion lasts all day and only costs 300 lyras (12€)!!! It’s truly amazing and so inexpensive!! One of my best experiences 🤩

Solo travel experience

First of all city is has amazing beaches. I can recommend Ölüdeniz, Çalış, Kidrak, and Sea me beach. ps: Sea me is a little expensive and çalış is wavy. City is pretty safe until the late hours you can walk at streets. You can go old town called Paspatur in the evening there are great bars and live music. Transformation is 12 turkish lira you can go anywhere with busses. You should definitely taste turkish food. Try everything you see cause they are all amazing.
