Safety:Very safe

Taipei is generally considered to be one of the safest cities for solo female travelers. There is high regard for law, order and personal safety in Taiwan, especially in its capital Taipei. Street crimes like mugging and theft are relatively rare and strict laws against such offenses are enforceable and adhered to. Locals are typically friendly and helpful, including in providing directions, and there are tourist centers and police readily available. As with any location, it’s recommended nonetheless to stay alert and use common sense.

Transport:Easy

Quite easy! The city is very pedestrian-friendly with well-organized streets and abundant signage making it easy to navigate. For further distances, there's an efficient, clean, and affordable public transportation system, including buses, taxis, and an excellent metro system. Language might be a challenge for some, but English signs are common and locals are often willing to help. The city is generally safe, even at night.

Things to do:Interesting

Taipei is truly a vibrant city packed with activities for everyone. Its unique amalgamation of influences creates a rich cultural scene, from the spellbinding architecture of Taipei 101, the historic beauty of Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall to the bustling night markets offering street food. The city also boasts a dynamic art and music scene, and nature lovers will be thrilled by the ample green spaces and nearby hiking trails. The rich history and contemporary Taiwanese culture make Taipei an exotic place where tradition and innovation coexist magnificently.

Food:Excellent

Taipei is indeed a culinary heaven, offering an impressive diversity of food. From street food stalls to gourmet dining, there's a lot to explore. The city presents a mix of local Taiwanese food, influences from various regions of mainland China, and international cuisine. There are varieties of fruits, seafood, cooked food, pastries, and even vegan options. No matter your palate or dietary preferences, it's almost certain you'll find satisfactory, if not excellent, options.

Budget:Moderate

Taipei can be considered moderately budget-friendly. Costs such as public transportation and local food are quite affordable. However, accommodation and tourist attractions prices can vary, with higher prices in tourist areas and cheaper options located further out. Therefore, budgeting and planning are key to make the most out of your stay in Taipei.

Group travel experience

I was in Taipei for 3 days. The weather was a bit gloomy during Chinese New Year. We move around with MRT, bus and local train. The service is top notch. On time, cheap and clean. Food is average for me. It's People are polite and helpful if you try to communicate effectively. Taipei is the most safest city especially for solo female traveller. You can walk the street without so much worries. Accept the scooters. They are a bit reckless. I went with a group but will do it solo next time.

Solo travel experience

Very safe city, clean, easy to get around, people are very friendly. Amazing food (nightmarkets!), Elephant mountain for great views of Taipei 101, Yangmingshan sunset and night views. Beitou hot springs, Tamsui, and daytrip to Jiufen and Pingxi are worthwhile

Local tips

Taiwan is pretty safe to woman, I think. In Taipei, there’s plenty of street light, safe to walk on street in my opinion. If you want nice and cheap local food, I’d suggest you go to Tainan. You can try some real nice traditional food there, and the price will make you eat more than you expected. If you’re staying in Taipei, I might show you around. Night markets are great, but some of them become a little too touristy. But there’s still some gem in it! For the view, the natural environment, Please go to Hualien and Taidong Mountains and Rivers will heal your soul

Indonesia

I live in Taipei for 3 years. The weather is nice, except the summer. Summer can be super humidly hot with temperature ranging from 34-40 degree celcius. Public transportation is super convenient with frequent schedules of buses and mrts. Google map is very accurate here. Check the weather before you go out to dress properly if you are traveling in winter as the weather could be cold, rainy, windy, or warm
