Kandersteg is a beautiful place in the Swiss alps. There are way less tourists than in lauterbrunnen etc. I stayed at the scout centre because i am a scout. There are a whole lot of beautiful hikes! I went with my car and tent. Because Switzerland is quite expensive, i loaded my car full of canned goods and crackers to keep the trip cheap.

How safe is Kandersteg for women?

Extremely safe, I feel confident walking around at night by myself! There are good streetlights. The main concern might be the weather in the winter time, as you need to have appropriate clothing.
