Is Molde good for solo travel?

Safety:

Safety:Very safe

Molde is considered to be very safe for solo female travelers. The crime rate is rather low, and the locals are generally respectful and willing to help tourists. As with any travel, it's important to remain aware of your surroundings, but you should feel quite secure exploring Molde, even as a solo female traveler.
Transport:

Transport:Easy

Molde is relatively easy to navigate. The town's layout is uncomplicated with most attractions, hotels and restaurants located close to each other. It's small enough to walk around comfortably and signs are clear, reducing the chances of getting lost. However, for longer distances or exploring outside the main town, public transport will be required. Despite this, traditional road signs and digital navigation systems are easy to follow without any real difficulties.
Things to do:

Things to do:Interesting

Molde offers a wealth of activities to keep solo female travelers engaged. Known as the 'City of Roses', Molde is adorned with lush gardens. Besides, the city offers hiking opportunities with its scenic mountains which perfectly combine with its stunning fjords. The panorama view from the famous Varden viewpoint, specifically Molde panorama, showcases 222 peaky mountains surrounded by water bodies that will take your breath away. However, despite these, the city might lack the hustle-bustle and diverse attractions of a larger city.
Food:

Food:Above average

Molde offers a sufficiently diverse food scene, with a wide array of eateries ranging from traditional Norwegian to more international cuisine. You can sample tasty seafood dishes, locally sourced game, or specialities such as klippfisk and bacalao. The city also accommodates vegetarian and vegan options as well as the high-quality international fare like Asian, Italian, and American. Hence, Molde offers a satisfying culinary experience, although it might not match larger, more cosmopolitan cities.
Budget:

Budget:Expensive

Molde falls on the pricier side when it comes to cost of living and traveling. Accommodation, dining, and attraction expenses can be quite high. Though public transportation is reliable, it is also not cheap. However, if planned well, you can find ways to reduce costs, such as opting for cheaper meal options, using public transit for local travel, and visiting free attractions or enjoying the natural scenic beauty. Budget allowances will need to be quite flexible though to handle potential unexpected costs.

Is Molde safe for women?

Very safe, people here are in general very law abiding. Only threat is a few mentally unstable people, here as everywhere. As an example once I was late for the boat out to the "Moldives", and didn't have time to lock my bike. I just parked at the mainsquare and found it at the same place 8 hours later.

About Me

Traveller living in a quiet place. Will always travel, has done so alone also, but as getting older I get more anxious travelling alone - that's why I joined this group. Thinking it is nice to see people for activities, sharing meals. I am also happy to sleep on a couch for a night or two- and live with locals to get a better understanding of your culture. I am happy to have guests staying! So welcome!
