I started my Baltic trip from Vilnius. It was raining most of the time when I was the there but still I had a good time. Despite the city being very historical, everything outside of Old Town is very modern. My favourite is definitely Užupis with its artistic and laidback vibe. Also it happened to be the Statehood Day on the second day of my trip. It’s not really a big celebration but still it was a pleasant surprise. This was the first time being this close to a president and I was very lucky...
Posted: August 14, 2026I visited Vilnius and Kaunas. I felt so safe, it's so clean, peaceful and comfy. People is really kind and it's a super cultural place, artistic and historical. It has a lot of museums to visit. It's foreigners friendly.
Posted: August 18, 2025Experienced: July, 2024I found Vilnius really safe, people really mind their own business and men are respectful. I even went on my own for food and a drink to a local pub, there was a group of men seated at the same table and they let me be. I loved the history of Vilnius, visiting the museums, going to the Opera, the prison, a fascinating place!

The country was very safe. Even though it was late, I was able to travel around the country safely. It is not a very expensive country. Since the country is small, most places are close to each other.
Posted: March 9, 2025Vilnius is extremely safe, quiet city. Transportation is very comfortable and it is easy to get from one point to another. In 2 days, it is possible to complete the city tour. First day: the Church of St. Peter and Paul, Monument of Three Crosses, Gediminas Castle Tower and the second day Old Town and the churches, streets, squares in Old Town can be explored. Pilies Street, the Orthodox Church of Holy Spirit are must-see locations.
Posted: September 2, 2024Experienced: July, 2024I traveled to Vilnius with a group of friends and managed to stay there for 6 days. From my experience, I can tell that we overall felt safe during our trip, and were very excited about tourist sightseeings. Vilnius is a vibrant city with interesting spots, restaurants, history, people, and culture.
Posted: August 24, 2024Experienced: August, 2023I felt incredibly safe in Vilnius. I don’t say this lightly m but I never felt this safe walking around at night (I was with another person though). Not once where we cat called and not once where we even given a weird look. I can’t even say the same for my home town! Vilnius is so beautiful and everything is so cheap there (you can comfortably pay with euro 😍). The city centre has a mall where they have a bubble tea store where they serve rose slushies (best thing I ever had the honor to...
Posted: August 11, 2024Vilnius is a very cozy little town, with various hygge cafes and restaurants (one cute cat cafe among them!). Ancient streets and sights, if you like to stroll along beautiful narrow streets while stopping for a coffee here and there - that’s your kind of place!
Posted: August 6, 2024I visited places including Uzupis, Soho nightclub, and the Lithuanian Gay League center. There are many backpacker hostels, walking tours, and good affordable food. Culturally people are not very "smiley" but that does not mean they are unkind or unhelpful.

Vilnius is always great 🫶 I adore this city and it’s really worth visiting during any season. Great people, nice traditional cuisine and Old Town makes you go back in time. Every time I leave, I immediately want to go back :) There are many options for exploring the city and the country itself, for shopping, activities and anything you like during trips.

Kaunas is generally safe just don’t go to those sketchy garage complexes but genuinely i’ve never had theft or violence, etc. happen and so haven’t my family members or friends and we’ve been living here all our lives💕

From my experience Kaunas is a very safe city to live and travel too. Women can safely walk around alone ir with friend group anytime of the day. Since I moved here ~1 year ago I never had an experience were I felt I was in danger when exploring the city
Posted: May 26, 2026The people at this country is super calm. Its safety place for walking and meeting with people also at the night time. Im felling myself pretty good here. People around you really take care of each others!
Posted: May 20, 2026Vilnius is generally pretty safe except for the drunks or other addicts/ homeless people that gather around the bus/ train station. Although i havent experienced any violence or significant feeling of unsafety walking around vilnius myself( maybe im used to it) id say its just generally uncomfortable somethimes being around drunk people, esp on public transit sometimes

It is a very safe city even during the night (midnight to 5 am). I never felt weird or unsafe walking home late at night even in unlit areas (which Ive done quite a few times). The only area that might be sketchy during the night is bus/train station area, so you might just want to be a little bit more alert but even then I walked there at almost midnight and nothing ever happened.
Posted: March 24, 2026It’s pretty safe all around, except the station area. People are friendly and polite. Even though we don’t smile that much. Don’t be too loud, don’t be messy and say “ačiū” often enough and you will be alright.
