Safety:Safe

Rajasthan, is moderately safe for solo female travelers. Significant precautions should be taken, particularly during nighttime. While the locals are usually friendly and helpful, occasional instances of harassment have been reported. It is recommended to respect local customs and dress modestly. Engage with recognized tour operators and avoid less crowded or secluded areas unless you're with a group or guide.

Transport:Moderate

Traveling in Rajasthan is moderately approachable. The cities can be quite far from each other, and English is not widely spoken, making communication somewhat challenging. However, the locals are generally friendly and willing to help. While public transport is readily available, it can sometimes lack in comfort. It's best to learn some basic Hindi phrases and get accustomed to long trips. However, the rich culture, vibrant colors and exquisite cuisine make the effort worthwhile.

Things to do:Interesting

Rajasthan offers a plethora of unique and rich experiences. From exploring various historic palaces and forts that narrate tales of the regal past such as Amer Fort and City Palace, engaging in shopping sprees in the bustling bazaars filled with colorful handicrafts, tasting the delightful Rajasthani cuisine, to experiencing adventure sports like hot-air ballooning and jeep safaris in Ranthambore National Park. However, due to the exaggerated crowd, it can sometimes become overwhelming.

Food:Above average

Rajasthan provides an incredible culinary experience boasting a wide variety of unique and delicious dishes. The food here reflects the state's rich cultural and historical heritage with flavors that linger in your tongue. From an assortment of breads like Bajra ki roti and missi roti to a spread of mouth-watering curries like Gatte ki Sabzi and Dal Baati Churma, there's no shortage of diversity here. Also, the signature Rajasthani sweets like Ghewar and Gujia shouldn't be missed. Spices and clarified butter are generously used, making the food rich and flavorful, but this may be too heavy for some travellers. Vegetarians are especially catered for, but meat dishes are also plentiful. The sole reason it doesn't get a perfect score is due to the lack of lighter, less spicy food options.

Budget:Moderate

Rajasthan falls in the mid-range regarding budget-friendliness. It isn't the cheapest destination for travel, but neither is it outrageously expensive. Cost of accommodations, transportation and food are reasonable, especially when you venture outside the major tourist centers. Shopping, tours, and high-end restaurants can increase your budget. Travelling during off-peak season can also make it more affordable.

I loved solo travelling around Rajasthan, there are so many beautiful places to visit within this state. There's so much to experience, beautiful sights, textiles, food, art and music. Favourite places were Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur and really wish I can make it to Jaisalmer soon! Felt safe most of the time and had many beautiful experiences and can't wait to go back again soon

Solo travel experience

I traveled alone through Rajasthan for one month this year, and it was amazing. Wonderful places to discover, great things to do, like camel safaris in Jaisalmer or zip-lining over the fort in Jodhpur. I traveled by train and public bus, met many interesting and nice people, I felt safe all the time.
