How safe is Volos?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Volos has a reputation for being quite safe, especially when compared to larger cities. Like any place, it's always good to be cautious and aware of your surroundings, particularly at night. However, cases of serious crimes are relatively rare. The well-lit streets in the busier areas and city center make it safer, as well as the presence of locals in the cafes during the evening. Always use your judgment, avoid isolated areas, and you should feel reasonably secure walking around at night.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Volos is considered quite safe, with frequent bus services being the most popular way to navigate the city. It is generally reliable and well-regulated. Locals and tourists alike use this mode of transport daily without experiencing significant issues. However, it is always important to remain aware of your surroundings, particularly in crowded spaces to prevent pickpocketing incidents.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Street harassment in Volos is generally minimal. Local culture is quite respectful and locals are typically very willing to help rather than harass. Just ensure to maintain basic safety measures - not sharing your accommodation details with strangers, not walking alone in poor lit areas late at night etc. As always, if you feel uncomfortable in a situation, trust your instincts and remove yourself as necessary.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Volos is comparatively safe when it comes to petty crimes. While incidents like pickpocketing, bag snatching, or scams do occur, they are not very frequent. However, it's always advisable to remain vigilant, especially in crowded areas and tourist hotspots.

Is Volos worth visiting?

Is Volos safe for women?

It's pretty safe for women, in most places in the city. The life in Volos doesn't stop at night and has people all over, so you feel mostly safe. But you have to be careful, specifically at night, at some roads in the city that they don't have a lot of lights. I have lived here for almost 2 years, and nothing dangerous has happened to me, but maybe because I'm too protective and careful or just lucky.šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

About Me

Helloo, I am 25 years old, come from Germany and have just completed my Master's degree. I studied ā€˜Sustainable Mobility and Cycling Planning’ and my work is about making transport in our cities more sustainable - which is a real challenge! I love walking through cities, looking at architecture, reading (especially novels and fantasy) and swimming. I like to cook and bake - sometimes with a glass of wine or gin ;-) I like dancing, especially salsa, and going out for a drink. I am an open person, animal lover and like to meet new people.
