Generally safe, important to be aware of your surroundings and not walk alone at night. Is safe to use public transport and walk alone during the day. The downtown can be dangerous at night, so be with other people.
Posted: July 19, 2026It's the safest captal of Brasil for sure, just be aware of the homeless people, they normally under something but not something to be super worried. Obviously don't were mini skirts or be with your phone oversight.
Posted: August 16, 2025I wish it was safer. Could have more police monitoring. In other places I feel safer. Thank God nothing has ever happened to me. But it's still one of the safest cities in Brazil. As women we must always be alert.

I think Curitiba is a little dangerous, but if you’re careful with your stuff then you should be fine. Like don’t use your phone when you’re walking on the street, take care of your surroundings, avoid going out alone at night, but don’t stress too much about it too.
Posted: December 30, 2024The city center and tourist areas are very safe and there are police everywhere, at night, and on public transport it is important to be aware of possible thefts. Residential neighborhoods and more remote areas do not have as many police and are therefore more unstable. This does not mean that it is dangerous, but it is not a good idea to let your guard down.
Posted: December 28, 2024Your biggest concern would be pickpockets in the city center, especially at night, but overall, the city's crime rate is one of the lowest in the country. People tend to be more antisocial, and the climate is colder, but as a woman it is a great city to relax and have tourism linked to nature and cuisine.
Posted: December 25, 2024Based on reports from women living in Curitiba, we created a safety map highlighting areas where they feel unsafe during the day or at night.

I’m a singer, songwriter and English teacher. I love to travel, to contemplate beautiful landscapes and fine art and to connect with different people. I have a very cute dog named Caju (a Brazilian fruit and name of famous song), she’s a brilliant and lovely border collie.
