Is Florianopolis safe for solo female travelers?

Florianopolis, commonly known as 'Floripa', is considered one of the safer cities in Brazil, particularly when compared with bigger cities such as Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo. The locals are generally friendly and accommodating to tourists. However, like any destination, it's important to take standard safety precautions. Avoid isolated areas at night, always keep an eye on your belongings, and use only trusted means of transportation. Despite these precautions, please remember that safety conditions can rapidly change, so it's advisable to always stay updated on current events in the area.

Florianópolis is a place with beautiful beaches and infrastructure. It is worth visiting and enjoying the tours, appreciating the landscapes, and indulging in the dining options as well. The cost of living is a bit higher.

Solo travel

It is a really nice city, the public transportation is not good at all so I recommend having a bike or a car rented. Overall people were really kind, of course in the center of the city is more dangerous so you need to be extra careful there

I was in Florianópolis for 7 days. I started in the south of the island where I explored the chilly beaches and the nightlife with friends from around the world. Later, I went to the north of the island where the beaches are calmer and there are many families.

The Magic Island is incredible in the summer, it has a variety of things to do and make the most of. At night, always be more careful, as in every big tourist city, despite being busy, be careful with neighborhoods where not so many people are passing by. Otherwise, Florianópolis has a nice vibe to enjoy a good summer vacation.

It one of the most secure cities in Brazil but you still have to be cautious when traveling, avoid walking or using public transport alone late at night, choose accommodations near main streets or more familiar neighborhoods

I went running almost every morning before sunrise and in the beach there were only elderly people, in the streets that were close to the beaches it was pretty calm as well. Maybe in the evenings motorcycles were wild but just messing around probably just because carnaval times.

Super safe, nothing happens here. Don't have to worry about safety and people are really nice, calm and sociable. Also, beaches are safe, plenty of tourists, nobody worries about robbery or violations.

Floripa is a really safe city, with many nice beaches and neighborhoods. However, downtown is not very safe at night, so I wouldn’t recommend walking alone in this area at night. Areas like Campeche, Rio tavares, Lagoa da conceição are pretty safe
