Is Yerevan worth visiting solo?

Safety:Very safe

Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, is generally safe for solo female travelers. The local people are known for their hospitality, and violent crimes are rare. However, like in any urban place globally, standard precautions should be adhered to. That includes avoiding less populated areas during night hours and being aware of your personal belongings at all times to prevent instances of petty thefts.

Transport:Easy

Yerevan is fairly compact and so you can easily walk around the city center where most attractions are located. It also has a simple, yet efficient public transportation system consisting of buses and mini-buses. Street signs are often listed in both Armenian and English, and English is commonly spoken among young people and service staff. While taxis are readily available, they may not have meters so negotiate a price beforehand. It's suggested to learn a few basic phrases in Armenian or Russian, as not everyone is fluent in English, especially in public transport. Despite that, locals are usually friendly and ready to help.

Things to do:Interesting

Yerevan is a cultural hub with its long history documented in various museums such as the Armenian Genocide Museum and the Matenadaran which houses ancient manuscripts. The city also has striking architecture like the Cascade Complex and the Opera House. There are captivating sights such as the beautiful Republic Square and the views from The Victory Park. Yerevan's vibrant food scene with local and international cuisines is a delight to all food lovers. Not to forget the city's lively arts scene, including the flea market where vendors sell arts, crafts, and antiques. You might wish for more hustle and bustle commonly found in larger cities, hence the rating.

Food:Above average

The food in Yerevan is an incredible fusion of cultures with a distinctive touch. The city is brimming with a variety of eateries offering a diverse range of cuisines, both local and international. You'll find everything from Armenian barbecue and traditional dishes, to modern vegan and vegetarian options. The fresh ingredients and intense flavors coming from local produce and traditional cooking methods provide a unique culinary experience. However, the lack of more diverse international cuisines and the dominance of meat in local cuisine might limit the choices for some. But regardless, food is definitely a key part of the Yerevan experience, and it won't disappoint you.

Budget:Affordable

Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, is considerably budget-friendly for solo female travelers. Costs for accommodation, food, and transportation are relatively low, making it an affordable destination. Sightseeing spots and experiences are also quite reasonably priced. However, the price can increase slightly if you plan on doing more high-end activities or dining.

Armenia is amazing if you are a girl. Locals are very sweet and respectful, they would never let you carry a heavy bag by yourself and everyone is always willing to show you around or give directions. Taxi is available and affordable and there will always be an empty room at a hotel. The local food is a form of art. And everything is VERY cheap. Overall just an amazing place to visit!!

Solo travel experience

I was there on business, but I stayed for an additional 3 days. I fell in love with this beautiful city. There was so much to discover, and the people were so welcoming! I felt very safe. The restaurants, accommodation, and transport (apart from the cost of the flight) were good and inexpensive. I hope that one day I can return there!

To-do: - Victory Park - Mother Armenia Monument - Republic Square - Cascade - Saint Gregory Cathedral - Freedom Square - Opera House - Swan Lake Safety: I can definitely confirm that it's very safe there. Recommendations: Yerevan is really a pretty city, although there's not a lot to do there, so I wouldn't spend too much time there.
