Safety index

Safety at night:Moderate

Yerevan, as the capital of Armenia, is generally safe even at night. Nonetheless, it is important to remain aware of your surroundings, particularly in less busy areas. Most locals are friendly and helpful, and petty crime rate against tourists is relatively low. Utilizing trusted taxi services or reliable public transport at night is advisable if you aren't comfortable walking alone. Remember not to flash valuable items in public to avoid attracting attention.

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Yerevan is generally considered safe. The city has a well-established network of minibuses, trams, and a metro system that is regularly used by locals and tourists alike. Services are reliable and cost-efficient. However, it's advisable to pay attention to your belongings because pickpocketing in crowded places can occur occasionally. Also, public transportation can get very crowded during peak hours, which could be uncomfortable for some individuals. Overall, it's a safe and economical means to get around the city.

Street harassment:Low

In Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, street harassment is not a common experience. Women usually feel quite safe walking around, even in the evening. Still, as in any city, it's wise to stay vigilant, especially in busier public areas where pickpocketing can occur. But, overall, harassment specifically targeted at women is relatively low in this region.

Petty crimes:Low

Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, has a generally low incidence of petty crimes such as pickpocketing, bag snatching or other minor forms of theft. It is considered quite safe, especially in the city center and popular tourist areas. However, like any place, it's always important to keep an eye on personal belongings and avoid flashing valuable items, especially in crowded places or late at night.

Tap water:Safe

Though Armenia has a remarkably good quality of natural water, the network used for its delivery can sometimes be old and dilapidated which might affect the tap water quality in some areas in Yerevan. It is generally safe to drink the tap water, but for sensitive stomachs, it might be a good idea to consume bottled water.

Solo travel experience

I was there on business, but I stayed for an additional 3 days. I fell in love with this beautiful city. There was so much to discover, and the people were so welcoming! I felt very safe. The restaurants, accommodation, and transport (apart from the cost of the flight) were good and inexpensive. I hope that one day I can return there!

Solo travel experience

To-do: - Victory Park - Mother Armenia Monument - Republic Square - Cascade - Saint Gregory Cathedral - Freedom Square - Opera House - Swan Lake Safety: I can definitely confirm that it's very safe there. Recommendations: Yerevan is really a pretty city, although there's not a lot to do there, so I wouldn't spend too much time there.

Solo travel experience

I LOVED Yerevan/armenia in general! Felt like a blend of European/middle eastern/russian/central Asian cultures. Hotels & airbnb’s were more expensive than I was expecting. The food was delicious. I recommend doing a couple of day trips down south and also up to lake sevan

Solo travel experience

I was in Yerevan for a week, and I had a great time! It’s a small city, so a week is enough. The people there are very friendly, the food very delicious, and the prices cheap! Would go again, but maybe in the summer :)
