How safe is New Jersey?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

New Jersey is a diverse state with a variety of neighborhoods, some of which are notably safer than others. As a woman traveling alone, it would be advisable to avoid poorly lit, less populated areas at night, and stick to busier streets where there are other people around. Major tourist areas and city centers are usually well lit and have some level of policing. Make sure to be aware of your surroundings, and possibly consider using a taxi or ride-share service to move around at night instead of walking. Keep in mind that no matter where you go, incidents can occur, so it's critical to take basic precautions.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in New Jersey is generally safe and reliable. Instances of crime are rare and most people do not feel threatened while commuting. It includes a good network of trains, light rail, and buses, which are frequently monitored. However, like any other place, caution is advised during late hours and in less crowded areas. Always be aware of your surroundings.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

New Jersey boasts diverse suburban and urban neighborhoods with generally safe environments. Street harassment incidents do occur but are not common, and the locals are usually respectful. Safety measures should be exercised, especially when traveling alone at night. However, most of the public areas are well-policed, further reducing occurrences of street harassment.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Moderate

New Jersey, like any other place, has petty crimes such as theft, pickpocketing, and vandalism. Busy tourist spots and crowded areas are more susceptible. It's always advisable to stay vigilant, secure your belongings, and avoid isolated areas, especially at night. However, it generally has good law enforcement and security is relatively strong.

Where I am its really safe, I don't know for everywhere but here I'm pretty confortable even at night. The streets are calm, I see a lot of cops, I'm in a small town so there is less to worried about

I feel safe in my area of New Jersey however I live in the suburbs and that's based on my experience here, I would probably not feel as safe in the cities here and crimes can happen anywhere at anytime unfortunately especially to us women. NYC is the city im closest to and i often go on day trips and feel safe.
