Is Riyadh Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Riyadh is fairly safe for solo female travelers. The country has started a significant progressive shift, allowing women more rights and freedoms than the past. However, as a part of its cultural and legal norms, modest dress code must be observed and interactions between unrelated men and women can be seen as inappropriate. There's a low crime rate, but the rules and societal norms are very different, so it is essential to familiarise yourself with them beforehand and respect them throughout your stay. It is recommended to use a trusted guide or have local contacts that can help navigate the cultural norms and rules.

Riyadh is generally very safe for women even late at night. You do not need to worry about crime or harrassment in public places. You might experience some staring which can be uncomfortable. Tip for safety: Video recording any potential incidents will protect you and deter any perpetrators. (Example: in taxi/Uber) Least safe areas: areas neer Alnadeem and Albat’ha.

This also primarily occurs only in certain areas that some young locals deem as dating hotspots. However, risk of physical harassment is very low. Even lower are things like assault, rape, mugging, kidnapping, murder. Saudi Arabia is a considerably safe country to be in. I would only advise foreign female travelers to avoid going out alone at night and avoid dodgy...

About me

I’m Salma, 22yo a Syrian girl who was porn and lived in Saudi her whole life. It is time for me to change that and travel around, I know solo travel is a must experience but I would love to be prepared a little. I love animals, adventure, music, thrifting. I am ab ADHD person so I take risks but end up surviving, i am an artist with a-lots of talents and hobbies. I want to do this to expand my knowledge, spiritual state and energy field. I do sports and meditation. So a retreat is a big part of my plan.
