Over the recent years, Jeddah has worked towards modifying its cultural restrictions, making it more tourist-friendly. Generally, it is safe, but it's recommended to exercise caution, especially during the night. Although major tourist areas are well-lit and safe, avoid isolated areas or ones where not many people are present. Ensure to respect local customs and dress code. It's also advisable to avoid solo walks at late hours, if possible. Local people are generally helpful and the city has an active police presence after dark. But like any city, it's wise to remain cautious about personal safety.
Public transportation:Safe
Public transportation in Jeddah, generally has a reputation of being safe. The buses are well-maintained and have regular routes that they follow. They are often used by both locals and tourists. However, you may want to avoid overcrowded buses during rush hour for extra comfort. Taxis and ride-hailing services such as Uber are also readily available and offer a familiar and reliable way to get around the city. As a precaution, always be aware of your surroundings and personal belongings.

Typically, Saudi Arabia, and Jeddah in particular, can be quite respectful towards women. Street harassment isn't common, especially because of the country's strict laws against this behavior. Tap water in Jeddah, is generally not recommended to drink as it may not align with international standards of potability. It undergoes desalination and purification processes, however, its taste and potential residual salts usually make tourists and locals alike prefer bottled water for drinking. The tap water is deemed safe for other purposes such as bathing or cooking.

I did a 4 day stopover in Jeddah and I had a blast. The old town was gorgeous. People were mostly active at night and it was just such a different experience. Very few tourists and I felt safe as a solo female traveler.

My solo trip to Jeddah was great! Visiting Makkah was a spiritual journey, and taking taxis around was convenient. The lonely corniche, pleasant weather, and overall safety made it a really peaceful trip.
