I felt safe walking even at night as a woman. There were many young women who were around my age, on a walk with their friends, pets etc at night and at parks. The cuisine is usually a mix of Ottoman and Italian, not very diverse as a Turkish person. The people were usually kind! My wallet got stolen at Trg Slavija Mc Donald’s tho, I don’t recommend wearing backpacks. The city is small, walkable distance.

I can't recommend Belgrade enough! While to some Europeans, the city might feel shabby due to it's poor maintenance (corruption is bad here), yet, it was the safest city I ever visited. It has a lot to offer in terms of sightseeing and gastronomical tourism. Also, the prices are insanely low and perfect for budget travellers 😇
Posted: March 8, 2025Experienced: February, 2025Belgrade is very safe for a solo female traveler. I also visited parts of the city outside the touristic city center and they felt very safe as well (Novi Beograd, Zemun). Food is very cheap and going to the restaurant is a great experience both for the food quality and the welcoming atmosphere. I would recommend if you are interested in history and architecture.
Posted: February 16, 2025Belgrade is a great city. I've been there twice. There are activities to do. There are fun places. The street is very lively. It's safe enough. There are historical sites and museums to visit. I highly recommend it. I think spring is the best season

Belgrade is a marvellous place! On the one hand you have brutalist yugoslavic achitecture and on the other hand you can find ottoman and other traces of the profound history of the city. Me and my female friend stayed ad a save campground at a margin of Zemu. Every morning we took the bus for 50ct we could pay via App to downtown. It took us 30 min to get there. The main attractions were the Museum of Yugoslavia and the coffee shops downtown. Another highlight was the the open air cinema "Novi bioskop Zvezda" at the rooftop of the old cinemabuilding. We stayed in downtown until 11pm and took a taxi on the road back to our campground without any incidences.
Posted: September 9, 2024It was a safe city. The food was very delicious and reasonably priced. I was able to take night walks without any problems. It is a small city and you can visit many places on foot. A woman can easily wander around alone.

I felt safe. I had a fun holiday, the prices for food and drinks were affordable. Taxi was cheap, I usually walked and occasionally took a taxi. It is better to stay in the center. Marks Place was very nice. I recommend for food
Posted: May 2, 2024We stayed in a airbnb which was really cozy and nice but had enormous stairs while being on the 5th floor. Belgrade is a very budget friendly city and is also quite beautiful. We were out in the night as a group of 4 girls and didn’t experience any problems except for one catcalling but we were right in the center so I don’t know about the rural areas. The nightlife there is very much alive so that’s another reason for how safe it is there are people around at 3am. As for the nightclubs most of them are packed with men but the bouncer let us know each time before we entered and I’m not vouching for serbian men’s behavior in the clubs although we didn’t have any problems ourselves.

Belgrade was a very beautiful place. We stayed in the house of Boris Triunovic, whom we met on couchsurfing in Belgrade. He hosted us in a very loving way. He gave us information about Belgrade and its historical places. You can easily visit all local places in Belgrade on foot and by bus.
Posted: February 15, 2024Experienced: January, 2024Novi Sad is a great place to visit, both for evening walks along the Danube River and for relaxing on the sandy beach during the day. The locals are also very nice, and many people speak English very well.

It's pretty safe. But like in another large city there in some parts of town that are not safe. You can safely use public transport. Sometimes drunk person will tell you something to you, but you just ignore it. There a lots of good people who are willing to help with everything. They even will walk with you if you can't find a place where you're going to. People are very friendly.

Belgrade is a strange mix of high level of corruption in institutions and kindness of strangers in the street, with a possibility of someone taking your wallet in public transportation but also very low level of anyone ever breaking into your home..

Hi, I’m Polina! I'm a Computer Science student from Russia, living in Belgrade with my husband. ✨ I love aesthetics like goblincore, dark fantasy, castlecore, whimsical gothic, cottagecore, spacecore, and fairycore. I'm empathetic and enjoy listening. I find it hard to socialize a lot since I'm an introvert. But I'd love to meet for coffee and explore unique spots in Belgrade.

I have to apologize to everyone I haven't responded to, I logged out of my account and it took me forever to get it back. I'm so sorry for missed opportunities to meet up. Hi there! I am a working student from Serbia that is looking for like minded travel friends. My most basic interest is taking pictures for Instagram of course, and I hope to find someone who also finds it fun while we travel. I like to do a lot of sightseeing, and get to know history, language, food and culture of the places I visit. On a tighter budget, and very thrifty, hope you're ok with that. Love nature and animals, music, dancing, and learning launguages. Major swiftie! Also if you're an expat, I am looking for a roommate. In the meantime, since I have a spare room, I'd love to have you as a guest for a few days.

Hi! I’m Aubrey, I’m a social worker in the Midwestern US. When travelling, I love sampling local coffee and tea, hiking, and touring religious sites like cathedrals and mosques. At home, you can find me at the library or taking long walks on our beautiful monon trail! I hate being bored, so I’m always ready to jump into something new!
