How safe is Republic of Serbia for solo female travelers?

Belgrade is very underrated. Half of my family lives there and I go twice a year. Summer is great but can get quite hot. Winter is nice too but be prepared for kitschy decorations. The public transport is free, the food is great and the night life is fantastic-what more do you want :)

During my stay at Belgrade I felt safe. I met really kind and interesting people. Serbs love dogs, I saw them everywhere. Public transport is free now, so we drove everywhere. I slept at Different Belgrade camping, about 15 km from the city centre. If you're vegan like me, you can easily find Asian vegan options.

I felt safe walking even at night as a woman. There were many young women who were around my age, on a walk with their friends, pets etc at night and at parks. The cuisine is usually a mix of Ottoman and Italian, not very diverse as a Turkish person. The people were usually kind! My wallet got stolen at Trg Slavija Mc Donald’s tho, I don’t recommend wearing backpacks. The city is small, walkable distance.

Belgrade is very safe for a solo female traveler. I also visited parts of the city outside the touristic city center and they felt very safe as well (Novi Beograd, Zemun). Food is very cheap and going to the restaurant is a great experience both for the food quality and the welcoming atmosphere. I would recommend if you are interested in history and architecture.

Belgrade is a great city. I've been there twice. There are activities to do. There are fun places. The street is very lively. It's safe enough. There are historical sites and museums to visit. I highly recommend it. I think spring is the best season

Belgrade is a marvellous place! On the one hand you have brutalist yugoslavic achitecture and on the other hand you can find ottoman and other traces of the profound history of the city. Me and my female friend stayed ad a save campground at a margin of Zemu. Every morning we took the bus for 50ct we could pay via App to downtown. It took us 30 min to get there. It was a safe city. The food was very delicious and reasonably priced. I was able to take night walks without any problems. It is a small city and you can visit many places on foot. A woman can easily wander around alone.

We stayed in a airbnb which was really cozy and nice but had enormous stairs while being on the 5th floor. Belgrade is a very budget friendly city and is also quite beautiful. We were out in the night as a group of 4 girls and didn’t experience any problems except for one catcalling but we were right in the center so I don’t know about the rural areas. Niš is very safe city You can walk everywhere by yourself and don’t be worried about being robbed or attacked. There is a lot of nice places for drinking coffee and eat something, it’s not very expensive and you can feel relaxed. Welcome!

Belgrade is generally safe; I never faced any crime or bad situations. However, after being out late a few times, the empty streets and closed shops made me feel I needed to stay alert. Public transit is free but thins out at night. While many people in the city speak English, it is rare among police officers, which makes communication a bit tough even though they are decent. It’s okay to walk alone home at night. Almost every is a good street light . There’re no unsafe neighborhoods. There is no high rate of pick pocketing or theft. And I would said it’s overall comfortable for traveling alone as a girl.

I feel completely safe in Belgrade. You can walk alone here even late at night, which I certainly don't recommend, but some places are simply stunning at night. Hotels and hostels have women-only rooms and dorms, and the staff and guests are polite and tolerant.
