Nestled in the heart of the Balkans, Southern Europe, the Republic of Serbia is a destination that offers travelers a unique blend of East and West, with its rich historical past and captivating modern culture. Serbia is known for its diverse architecture, ranging from Byzantine style to Brutalist structures, signifying different eras it has passed through. The country boasts numerous medieval monasteries, symbolizing its Orthodox Christian traditions, like those you can find on the Unesco-listed Fruska Gora mountain. Belgrade, its vibrant capital, buzzes with an exciting nightlife, attracting party-goers around the globe. Serbian cuisine is another major draw with mouthwatering dishes such as Pljeskavica (Serbian burger) and Cevapi (grilled dish of minced meat). Outdoor enthusiasts can indulge in skiing at Kopaonik or enjoy hiking trails of Tara National Park. Despite the tumultuous past, Serbia is a warm and welcoming country with a thriving art scene and friendly locals, making it a destination worth exploring.

I felt safe walking even at night as a woman. There were many young women who were around my age, on a walk with their friends, pets etc at night and at parks.

The cuisine is usually a mix of Ottoman and Italian, not very diverse as a Turkish person.  The people were usually kind! 

My wallet got stolen at Trg Slavija Mc Donald’s tho, I don’t recommend wearing backpacks. 

The city is small, walkable distance.

I can't recommend Belgrade enough! While to some Europeans, the city might feel shabby due to it's poor maintenance (corruption is bad here), yet, it was the safest city I ever visited. 
It has a lot to offer in terms of sightseeing and gastronomical tourism. Also, the prices are insanely low and perfect for budget travellers 😇
